If I have a unit of ten Ymgarls assualt 2 units of guardsman, they take no wounds, but deal 5 wounds on one unit and 3 on the other, how would you resolve the Ld checks for this assualt?

Yup, its all one combat so you add it together. And then both units roll for sweep.
So basically the Guardsmen get one roll, but have to beat both units to get away.
And if it was one unit of Stealers vs two units of guardsmen, the Stealers would get one roll and the Guardsmen would get two. If the Stealers beat both, both would die. If one beat the Stealers and the other didn't, only one would die and others would escape. and so on.

I thought if one passed and one failed, the one that failed just falls back because I'm tied in by the other unit? Either way I'm close to wiping him out now, (playing on vassal as we speak)

Yes, all enemy units have to be falling back before you can attempt to sweeping advance

I was refering to the I test for sweep. Obviously they would have needed to fail the Ld test first.
