Yay i just pick up the Island of Blood starter set . i was so excited that i decided to post a thread about them and their magical adventures
So far they have had their faces stomped in every game, but some how making it close at the very end. They do this in a nice oddly fashion, that of an upright genital men and so i will be painting little mustash on them and if n wen possible adding top hats n those little golden eye things i can thing of a name right now because its 4 in the bloody morning lol.

so far i have had 3 games, first against bretonians... because im a sucker n my opponent smelt an easy win. Then against the High elves from the same box; im calling shenanigans on GW for always giving the good guys more points in the starters...
and just this last night i played my old land lord and his orks/goblins, i think i did much better but still got slamed so hard....

so my thoughts.... need more clan rats... n cheap lol. for some reason like an hour b4 i odder the warp lighting cannon.... sigh... also coming from 40k to fantasy for the first time.. i really wish some one would have mentioned that magic actually is importance because my first 2 games really didn't involve that, but against the orks.. they just stomped on me all game with a stupid foot thing...

sigh. well any way, im going to keep updating this as my posh adventure continues. when i get my camra going again ill load up photos or something lolz

To represent their status as gentry. Each of these skaven require a complimentary suit and bottle of glenlivet!

But anyway, I look forward to more!

Yup, good luck to you. Always nice to hear about the adventures of someone starting the game all fresh!

“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”

Uh... I'm fairly certain that's NOT the word you wanted.

Behind you...

How I love listening to skaven getting their faces stomped. No offence but I would never have thought that skaven could be gentlemen. If you dont have a skaven codex then yoy are out of luck in magic because all you have is your engineer and if you see the island of blood referencebsheet than you will see he can only use warp lightning without the codex their to give him your own uprgrades.

Trust me if you persevere and get skaven book then you will go far. A decently thought through and constructed skaven army is a top tier force. Great magic (plauge, the dreaded thirteenth) really very decent shooting to thin out your opponents force (warplighting cannon, jezzials, rattling guns, plauge claw catapult, doomwheel just to name a few) great combat (hell pit abomination, rat ogres, storm vermin) they really are great.

Have you got all of the right tools from GW for manipulating it? It can be tricky to do it otherwise.

Hats--especially foppish ones--are hard to sculpt. You could always try getting some Empire hats.
But yeah, beyond that, just make sure you've got water nearby when you're working with green stuff. Dry tools/fingers=obnoxious, sticky models.

As far as troop sizes:

Clanrats, Stormvermin, Plague Monks: at least 30, up to 50 for most games.
Skavenslaves: go really small (20) or really big (50ish)
Night Runners*: 10 with slings or a larger unit with a Warp-Grinder.
Giant Rats: 5+1 packmaster for the "Rat Dart" formation (a cheap re-director) or in larger blocks*, similar to Clanrats.
Rat Swarms*: 3-4 bases.
Gutter Runners: I prefer small units of 5-7. Some people like units of 9. Just field them with Poison Attacks and slings.
Jezzails*: 5/unit is common, if you ever see them fielded.
Poisoned Wind Globadiers*: small units. I like to take 5, plus a Bombadier with a Deathglobe.
Plague Censer Bearers*: small to medium-sized units, like 6-8.

*not considered competitive in most gaming circles.
