Do Possessed marines always take on the form of the daemon that they have been possessed with? I ask this because in the word bearer's novels Burias only allows his demonic form to take hold when he is in battle. How ever the codex (5th edition) it makes it sound like the Possessed marines are always in there demonic forms. So dose any one know if Burias is just an anomaly or the norm? and dose the 6th edition codex say anything different about the Possessed marines?

It's inconsistent and has to do more with how much control the Marine has over the daemon. Burias is able to transform in and out whereas someone like The Exalted from Soul Hunter is more under the control of his Daemon so is stuck in the form.

yup what that guy said, the relationship between possessed marine and daemon depends on how strong the marine is vs the daemon. i imagine that it works in a similar way to a daemon weapon which can grant the holder great power but if he isnt careful may take over as with the primarch fulgrim who was fully possessed by the greater daemon in his sword mid-battle when the daemon detected a weakness (he was facing ferrus manus and probably having second thoughts about killing him)

i imagine a similar thing happens with the possessed, some are in control of the daemon that possesses them others will have the strength to take control when needed.

Daemons are also creatures of Chaos so they are by their very nature (or lack of nature) going to be varied and random in what rules apply to them and how often. This means some Possessed will strongly resemble the Daemon that is inside them and some won't.

In addition the powers and affects of the possession such as changing back and forth will vary. I do remember rwading about when a Daemon possesses a psyker it may try to conceal it's form for some time to wreak havoc unoticed before it mutates too much and can't hide. Stronger Daemons are sometimes better at hiding this way but also the stronger ones can also affect their host much more. So it seems to be random and very hard to predict how exactly a Possessed will appear.

What flavor of daemon ends up possessing someone probably has an effect on things as well.
