Can a Codex: Space Marines Army take themselves as a ally?
my opponent want to take his main army of SM and add a small group of SM as a ally and we disagree of the legality is it legal to do this?

No, you cannot ally with your own Codex.
Which makes Tyranids forever alone.

He could however take a Codex Space Marines force and add any of the following as allies choice (or vice versa) as they are seperate Codexes:
Sapce Wolves
Blood Angels
Grey Knights
Black Templars
which might get him what he wants...........

He just wanted to use Khan a command squad and two bike squads as troops as his ally.

Best he could do was have a Captain, Command Squad and bikers from one of the other Codexes listed. Not the same but could still be usable?
Again reversing the issue - what is he using from the basic C:SM - could this be done by using the other Codexes allowing him to take the C:SM as allies?

He could take DA to get some bikes... but Khan would have to be in the main SM force.

Aren't you allowed 2 FOC over 2k points? That way, you'd be able to "ally" with your own Codex -1 FOC could be Salamanders, and the 2nd Scars.

Exactly. Take a 2,000 point army and get all the units you want.
