Hey, yesterday i got some chaos marines and i tried my original ivory with red trim, and dark metal were needed I forgot however that i had bleached bone which goes on horribly when painting surfaces. So after i get them stripped as well as i can, has anyone else out there heard of any different WB paint schemes i mean except for the slate grey.
Sorry if this is a pain to read, I did not get more than 3-4 hours of sleep insomnia strikes again.

To my knowledge, Word Bearers are generally a deep maroon/red with silver trim. I personally paint mine with a deep red (almost brown) and highlight up to a nice rich red. The Reaper Master Series "Blood Red Triad" is perfect for that.

Unfortunately I've not got any pics to show you but I discovered this approach purely by accident. I was using metallic red on armour but felt that while it had a slight reddish tint it was not red enough. In the end I opted for a wash of baal red to at least darken it a little. It worked, and on a marine model it gave the armour a painted finish with a little metallic sheen to it. I've used this approach for the blue on my Thousand sons scorcerors and am well pleased with the result. Also the gold trim seems a lot more prominent also.

The warhost i thought of leans heavily on flame warfare. But i could not think of a way to make this work colour wise. So maybe my second love Iron warriors would be good to use here. Automatically Appended Next Post:

My own method, which i like is as follows:
Base with GW Khorne Red
Two heavy washes with Carroburg Crimson
Re-black all trim, then coat with Leadbelcher
Heavy wash with Nuln Oil
Then edge highlights with Wazdakka Red, each highlight adding a drop of white to the mix (normally do 3 or 4 highlights until I get to a nearly pure white pink)
Edge the metal parts with Runefang Steel
At first i thought the pink would look weird but I think it works.

i am out of black wash, have been for a while. Know how to make a good wash using chaos black, the ratio of paint to water would be good.
