Fellow 40kers,
My FLGS has a friday/saturday escalation league, and once you break 2000 pts you can start taking super heavies. A nice portion of the players are imperial guard, and they love to trundle around with a shadowsword blasting my delicate raiders while the rest of their army sits behind an Aegis line with even more artillery.

My usual AT is having a fair amount of DL and Blaster shots on the table, as well as a couple Scourge haywire blaster squads. For back up I have some Wyches with haywire grenades. Unfortunately, Haywire only glances a superheavy with a roll of 6, and the numerous structure points they have give me a headache. Things will be getting even rougher in an upcoming campaign where a lot of the Imperial players are planning on bringing two superheavies to a fight.

So I'm wondering what options I have. I've killed the big tanks before, but it usually requires all of my army's focus, and since a Shadowsword only costs about 500 pts they still have a big army left to shoot me up with. What are some good methods for the DE to kill superheavies quickly? I was thinking of an apocalypse formation of Ravagers, but I'm interested to hear how you all kill the monstrosities.

Thoughts?

Dark Lances and Blasters are more then sufficient. Super Heavies arn't that hard to kill.

The appoc formations for DE might be your best option for extra stuff.

There is a formation for 3 Ravagers with 3x darklances each, i think it allows you to ignore voidshields or something. Take a look through some of the apoc books, I don't remember which its in. Never used it, but I remember thinking that it was pretty potent.

Be thankful they don't have titans. A Shadowsword is pretty weak, while even a Warhound is an army-destroying threat. And god help you if anyone gets a Reaver...

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

The ravager titan-killer formation is just nasty. DE are actually pretty great in Apoc with all their cheap dark lances and fast vehicles since most of us want to bring our big, unnecessary toys when we play and DE are great at taking them down.

"There is a formation for 3 Ravagers with 3x darklances each," If that is true, that is boss.

I would also think haywire grenades would be spot on!

Wait, don't Ravagers alreayd have 3 Dark lances? What does the formation do for them especially?

IIRC the formation gives some kind fo buffs and is in APOC Reloaded. Also, it may be worth investing in a boat or two of haywyches. Other than that, as always, spam lances on them.

IIRC the Ravager formation gives one of the ravagers a special weapon which has a way of bypassing the void shields on superheavies. There are no extra weapons, but the ravagers all have to be equipped with 3x darklance (instead of any dissys).
