I had two topics for YMDC and so I figured I would put them in the same thread.

TOPIC ONE:
Title states it and I have two situations for you and we are trying to establish credit for the kills caused by the quadgun.

Situation one: A nurgle unit behind an AGL with an attached quadgun shoots the gun and kills lets say 3 enemy models. If Epidemius is in the same army will those kills count towards the tally?


Situation two: A dark eldar unit shoots the quadgun and finished off a squad with the quadgun only. Do they get a pain token?

TOPIC TWO:
Can a character hit by Boon of Mutation (pg. 70 CSM Codex) take a cover save from the hit? Power states, a model within 2" takes a S4 ap- hit and if it survives it gets to roll on the chaos boon table.

Is the Boon hit a shooting attack? If it is, then follow normal rules.

On the first question, I'd say that the unit firing the gun is the unit that fires the gun -> Epidemius gets buffs, Dark Eldar get pain tokens, Preferred enemy, hatred etc. activate.

It doesn't matter if Boon is a shooting attack. IIRC there's nothing stopping you from taking cover saves, odd as it may be.

Correct, the model is firing the gun. So units/models killed can count towards shenanigans.

You get cover saves.

Lucius' Armor of Shrieking Souls says "models yada yada taking a hit suffer a blah blah with *no cover saves allowed" so I'd start there as a reference. It's not a CC hit and not a shooting hit.. so they have to say "Ignores Cover" or whatever. Woo.

The unit fires the gun, the gun isnt firing itself. So the wounds were still caused by a nurgle / DE / whatever unit

You get cover saves unless they are explicitly denied. There is a misconception that something has to be a shooting attack to give cover -that is the exact opposite of the rules

One more thing that I had someone mention the other day.

They said that the quadgun was a heavy weapon so when you move into b2b with it during the movement phase you have to fire it snap shot. However, I am pretty sure this is not the case...

You'd be incorrect than.

The Quad gun is a Heavy weapon. If a model moves and fires a heavy weapon it makes snapshots. Unless said model has permission not to.

not quite, it says models carrying a heavy weapon that moved in the movement phase can fire it in the shooting phase but only as snap shots

you don't carry the Quad Gun

Looking at the wording, I see your point. That being said, playing it that way would make the Heavy type in the quad gun's profile meaningless, as no one ever carries it.

I expect I'll always see it played as Snap Shots.

There are plenty of weapons that are heavy even though it is meaningless. For example in IG codex, you can only get Multi-lasers on vehicles and vehicles ignore the Heavy rule, so Multi-lasers being classified as heavy is also meaningless.

It is just for consistency's sake.

So deliberation is it fires normal because the quadgun never moves?
