This will be a vanilla codex chapter still working on the fluff I will post that at a later date.l

Only thing I don't like is Cassius and vanguard in the landraider. Vanguard have attacks but no power weapons and so will struggle against other marines. I would prefer assault terminators in there as they are durable and have decent cc weaponry as standard - HQ I would run probably a librarian in terminator armour.

Razorbacks are going to be a little vulnerable so I'd maybe run another predator rather than the bikes to keep the mech wall company.

I don't think you need 10 scouts and would tend to run less but behind an Aegis Defence Line with a cannon.

looks good. Altough the razorbacks can only carry 6 guys. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but, you could combat squad a tactical squad and put half in a razorback, or you could just keep the tactical squad together and run an empty razorback. But, just my two cents
also, using the vanguard in a transport does not take advantage of the heroic intervention rule

You are correct they can only run six models. Maybe change them to rhinos and add a predator same as the other one?

And to bring terminators instead of the vanguards I could erase the bike squad. Would it be more optimal to reduce my scouts down a bit and add more terminators and add an assault cannon to them?

I am looking in the codex but can't find if terminators count as 2 models or one in transports?

The idea behind the scouts were to deploy them away from my battle line (no clue if we're playing objectives or not) but I figured all the sniper rounds would be good for anti tank weapons should I score a couple of sixes and telion allows me to pick who takes the wound.

As far as the chaplain instead of a libririan I went with that to boost my only cc squad I was going to have and he fits my fluff more. (something along the lines of a war hymn chapter know for singing praises and chants as they march into battle)

Here's what I'd do...

Keep the Van Vets with their jump packs, cut them down to a 5 man squad a kit them out with power weapons galore. Avoid mixing weapon types though as you don't want to be a "jack of all trades / master of none".

Make sure your Chaplain has a jump pack so he can keep pace with them.

Bang these guys in reserve, wait for your opponent to expose a key target and strike from the skies brother! SLAUGHTER TIME!

I wouldn't have as many scouts as that, run one squad with Telion and harry the enemy from a far, pinning large units where you can so your others units can move freely. Make sure their support is mutual though.

I can't see the bikes doing much as a small squad, so either grow them or drop them.

You might consider dropping one of the LR's, and adding Terminators. Another consideration would be a Thunderfire Cannon as this is quite a versatile unit, and the techmarine can bolster the cover that your scouts want and need.

If you do add terminators, go for the assault variant as you have no dedicated close combat aside from the Van Vets, so you need to reinforce that side of your gun heavy force.

I would say as a general rule more mech, and definatly those some termies in that LR, also if your going to have bikes i would have more than three. Also maybe even a Thunderfire Cannon for hordes.

Razorbacks are a very good choice, they give a AV11 lascannon platform with transport capacity, id keep those, furter, to have your vets decently equipped, theyll be too expensive, id say use OR normal assault marines or spend your points on perhaps a dreadnought or so. Futher, your troops units are decent, but no more, id drop some scouts and give stormbolters to your sarges

Dropped 5 scouts and telion changed the razorbacks for rhinos.
also dropped the bikes, and the vanguards

This gave me the points for a ten man term squad with a flamer and cyclone missiles

It also added a second pred like the one above.

As this is a mechanized infantry I find it hard to want a thunder fire cannon. Maybe if I had more then 1500Pts.

Would Cassius be eligible for a jump pack? If not would changing him to a normal chaplain be the better choice? I liked the idea of his rerolls and combi flamer. If so I would drop the LRC for a thunder fire. And go with a Jump pack chaplain.

Keep in mind I have never played and this is a first list being made for some practice rounds before a 1500 pt tournament in the area. I figured I would jump in swinging.

Named HQs must be taken as-is. Some have options, but not many.

Terminators do take up 2 spots in transports. If you are going to stick them in a land raider, I'd go with assault terminators. I like a mix of claws and hammers. Chaplains leading them works very well, and Cassius is a steal for his points.

Vanguard vets get a bad rap. They are overpriced, and fragile, but can cause some pain. There are people who advocate their use, I'm not one of them. I would not recommend them to a new player.

Having some fast moving melta is nice, I might keep the bikes. Personally I use speeders, and a lot of people use attack bikes for this role though.

I prefer auto/las predators, but the "dakka" Auto/HB work as well.

For a first list, your's is actually quite well balanced. You probably could have played it as-is with some success, depending how cut-throat your local meta is.

Cool on the revisions, though I have heard that the heavy flamer on termis is a waste. I'm not saying that from experience though.

Cassius cant take a jump pack, so you'd to drop him down to a regular chappy. Afaik the rerolls are available to all chaplains, not just Cassius.

Remember to move fast with those guys if that's the unit you want to field, you want to get stuck in, cleave the enemy and get behind cover, ready to charge again in your next turn.

If you have the points why not get a second chaplain and put him with your assault terminators? That'd be brutal

All right back at wOrk again not doing anything so I made my revisions. If something seemed like your personal preference sorry I did not use it.

Hq 1 chaplain cassias

Troop 1 space marine tactical squad 170
1 sm sgt bolt gun
7 sm bolt guns
1 sm flamer
1 sm missile launcher

Dedicated transport rhino 35

Troop 2 space marine tactical squad 170
1 sm sgt bolt gun
7 sm bolt guns
1 sm flamer
1 sm missile launcher

Dedicated transport rhino 35

Troop 3 space marine snipers 135
Replace sgt with telion
1 missile launcher
3 sniper riffles

Heavy support 1 predator 85
Add heavy bolter sponsons

Heavy support 2 predator 85
Add heavy bolter sponsons

Heavy support 3 land raider crusader 260
Add multi Melta

Elite 1 terminator assault squad 280
5 terms with doubble lightning claws
2 Terms with thunder hammer/storm shield

( terminators will be in the LRC with chaplain)

Fast attack 1 space marine bike squad 120
1 sm biker sgt with combi melta
2 sm bikers with meltas

This makes my list an even 1500 points.

(Over all plan is to insert snipers and telion pin units down from afar on an objective. Cruise all armor with troop pay loads to battle and onward to other objectives.)

Question number one. After I assault out of the LRC can they mount back up and proceeded to next combat action?

Thank you for the help in refining my first list for my first ever game and tournament.

When I advance to 2k points I'll add another chaplain and another LRC and assault terms while adding more scouts to telion and beef up my bike squad but that is in the future. My wife already got mad at the 350$ spent on space marines and the dark vengeance box (by the way I'll trade those chaos if I ever get a chance) and I invested in a badger krome and a shop air compressor ( it only runs at 55 decibels). That's another 300. And now I'm about to drop another 300 on two predators, my second rhino, the LRC, 10 assault terminators, 5 snipers, telion, and Cassias. And I have yet to play a single game. I just really enjoy assembling and painting the models, as prescribed by my psych to take up a hobby to treat PTSD. But man do I love this expensive hobby.

yep provided its not the same turn that you disembarked and the land raider is still functional then yes you can get back in the land raider and transport your hard hitting payload to the next combat in the comfort and safety of your LR.

Overall your list looks gd but i would think about adding some more anti armour as at the moment its really just your bike squad that can take out high av tagets. Maybe think about switching one of your preds to a auto cannon and las soupson, or even some attack bikes with MM.

Its up to you tho, the best thing to do would be to have a game or two and then you will really see where your list needs refining.
