Ok so in 6th ed, Under what conditions would i be able to hold my entire force in reserve if any? Or is that not possible now because you must deploy atleast 50%?

Some codex entires say " can keep in reserve even if mission dosnt allow ". Which is what raises the question.

Example: webway portal lets me hold units in reserve even if mission disallows. and i know it cant bring vehicles through its just a ruff example.

If something is given explicit allowance to always start in reserves, or MUST start in reserves, then you may reserve the unit.

So if something has a Flyer or Drop Pod as a DT, or if it is wearing Terminator Armor(and isn't a Space Wolf)

However, just be aware that if you end any game turn with zero models on the table you automatically lose. So if everything is in reserves and doesn't come on until turn 2 you will autolose.

As it stands the only forces that can start fully in reserves that I can think of are any kind of SM Drop Pod list since half of them will show up first turn or a DA DW list as half of their terminators will show up first turn.

Otherwise you must deploy half the units on the table to start the match.

You forget Necron Flyer lists, although they must start something on the table to avoid autolosing. And then if you can kill all of what they do put on the table they will lose anyway.

So im assuming then the DP and DW have special rule that allow them to roll for reserves turn 1?

and if by some miracle they all failed they would auto lose? lol

No they have to deploy half of their units (rounded up) on the table in their turn. Rule is for both DW and DP lists.

Drop Pod Assault says that half of the pods come in on turn one, no rolling.
Deathwing is similar for Terminator Squads.
