Hello. I've been playing Cygnar for a while and am looking into getting a second army. I'm trying to decide between Legion of Everblight and Trollblood. With Cygnar I've been using Comander Adept Nemo, so I would like an army a tad different than him. So far I'm leaning towards Legion, but from what I've heard, they seem to be quite similar to Cygnar. Does anyone have any advice for which would be a good second army?

i'd say they're similar in that they're not as tanky as say Khador or trolls but I have both Trolls and legion that i received as a gift and i have to say personally Legion warbeasts are beginning to look a little too similar for my taste (yes i know the fluff gives reason for this) and seem too clone like .

i was looking for a second faction for a while. I wound up going with Trolls cuz I love the models. I like what legion can do but I cant play with models that I just dont like the look of.

I would say look at them both, what pleases you most play style and ascetically wise.

Do you mean the Legion warbeasts seem similar to cygnar units, or that they are all the same to one another?

Legion warbeasts are just clones of each other imo with only a few variations like the succubus and the grotesques

Huh? Succubus is a warlock attachment and the grotesques are an infantry unit.

Every faction has a group of three beasts/jacks that use the same basic chassis. Legions are just so good that you tend to see those ones a lot.

So I've narrowed it down to either pThag or pMadrak. Any suggestions on which would be the better warlock?

Just kidding. I can't help myself; I play both.

As far as Thags vs Madrak, I have to give it to Thags all the way. Legion vs Trollbloods; Legion are better because they ignore a lot of restrictions other armies have to play with, but they are serious glass cannons. Trollbloods are better from a colorful/interesting perspective (IMO).

So: Thags vs Madrak.

Thagrosh has higher FURY, can cast an Animus for free (Succubus lets him have two free Animi a turn, plus a free upkeep), has higher armor (effectively) due to him debuffing enemy models' strength (also helps against throws), and is just about as deadly in CC (possibly more so due to some of his tricks plus higher FURY), his feat can be very demoralizing, he has a better spell list (along with enough FURY to make it worth a darn), and did I mention he has more FURY?

I have to admit I am a little biased, as I don't like Madrak very much, but I LOVE Thags.

Trolls are the most infantry-heavy Hordes faction, and work a bit like the Protectorate, often using buffs to transform so-so units into nightmares. Synergy is the key to victory, with some units or solos solely there to buff others, and a host of multi-purpose animi on their beasts. It requires planning, but is devastating when it works. Trolls often rely on being able to take a punch, and then return one--a favoured formation of Madrak is the "brick", which is a solid mass of trolls, with improved armour from the krielstone, improved DEF from Surefoot on a heavy, and maybe behind a rock wall from Janissa, rumbling towards you behind a bunch of Fennblades with Tough, trample-proof medium bases and extra DEF against charges. What do you do?

Legion tend to be the most beast-heavy by contrast, and there are several viable lists that have no infantry. Legion tend to depend quite heavily on getting the first punch, and often fall apart if there's something left to hit them back. They're often tricky and unpredictable, especially since their beasts can ignore things like forests or clouds for LOS. They are fairly like Cygnar in that they have a good ranged game (if you though eCaine was bad, wait till you see eLylith in action!), and are better on offence than defence.

"The 75mm gun is firing. The 37mm gun is firing, but is traversed round the wrong way. The Browning is jammed. I am saying "Driver, advance." and the driver, who can't hear me, is reversing. And as I look over the top of the turret and see twelve enemy tanks fifty yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich."
