I am a BA and SW player. I dont touch the BA much anymore. I dont like the lower number counts you end up with.
As to your buddies lists...
The list with the LR is more than likely going to do better. With more and more people gearing lists to stop flyers or atleast lessen their ability, people are ignoring things on the ground. I run a 5 Pod list at 2k pts and have been doing really well with it. No flyers. Most flyers are AV 12 or less. meaning Str 7 can do the job. So more and more auto cannons. Str 8 does it a little better. Now a lot of people are not thinking about those AV 14 things that can drop out of the sky lol. So autocannons and ML's are not going to cut it.

Now that death company doesn't have to charge the closest thing, they are freaking awesome.
Storm Raven is one of the best flyers in the game.

Well, BA lost an edge. In a competitive environment, Razorback spam is dead. DoA has never been top tier and will not in the 6th. I shelved my BA, too.

B.A probably got hit the hardest in 6th ed. Their most popular build, Razor-Spam, got smacked hard. No assaulting from transports hurts them badly plus you cannot cast shield of sanguinus from inside. So Razorbacks for Angels is dead.
There's two ways you can go; Land Raiders which suit their assaulty format, however expect low troop numbers and every list should be able to deal with AV14.
The other way is back to Angels roots and going jump. I think this is probably the best way to do.

Well, I second Mercer here. But a partial DoA army is even worse than in the 5th ed, since only half of the army can be kept in reserve. The only unit that got better is the DC, but its not scoring.

I run an all Assault pack army supported by Librarians and honour guard and spam the hell out of plasma and melta bombs.
Most people struggle to cope as it jumps about, as its maneuverability and speed now mean I can leap around and pick out special and heavy weapons very easily and, pick the fights I think I can win easily.
BA's have taken a bit of a hit, but a lot of that is because people are trying to play them like a 5th ed army and that clearly won't work anymore.

Not sure if you have crossed wires, but I am not talking about a DoA army. I could never stand DoA anyway and thought it was gak since day one. I mean a full jumper army bouncing across the table.

The Blood Angels have definitely taken their lumps. Right now I have had the most success with a mech list that uses assault troops for counter attacks primarily. I shoot. A lot.
That being said, I think that when the Dark Angels get their book, I think the Blood Angels will be the weakest marine chapter. Well, there's Black Templars I guess. But not weaker by a lot, so it's acceptable. We will just be wearing the hat the Dark Angels did for a long time.

Blood Angels were always strange in that they filled such a limited niche. They actually weren't even the best Razorspam army in 5th, and Razorspam is invalidated in 6th by Cron Air. Basically, they are left with jumpers as the main reason to take them. I don't see why you couldn't just run:
Libby
2 Priests w Jump Packs
5x10 Assault Marines with dual specials, power axe
Primaris Psyker
PCS
50 count blob with 5 power axes, 5 autocannons
Roughly 1850
52 MEQ with FNP, 50 man blob with Prescience and ATSKNF from the Libby, plus whatever the Primaris rolls on Biomancy. This template doesn't go down easy...

I think they have a few other tricks that are worthwhile. Jumper lists suffer like the one you proposed suffer badly in ranged firepower and I think that is pretty important in 6th edition. I really, really like FNP attack bikes for one thing. Mobile multi melta that gets 2 5++ saves vs any non-ST 10. Blood Angels still have fast tanks, which are quite nice as well.

I didn't like reserves in 5th ed, and I still don't like them. I want my tanks on the board killing stuff, and contributing to armor saturation.

It isn't overly difficult to toss out a squad of jumpers to grab some heavy weapon teams or devastators. With less armor on the field and the ability to kill tanks easily in CC, it isn't really a problem. Especially when you consider that the contents of transports won't be counter assaulting right away.

It is a viable army, but I feel like it's still doing it the hard way. I your opponent has good field coverage, then some of your assault teams will lose FNP as well.

I was thinking about a boys over toys approach to BA.
Core being:
HQ: Libbis
Troops: Assault marines (foot or jumper)
Elite: Sternguard and Priests
Fast: Preds
Heavy: Vindicators
I figure it would hit like a ton of bricks and handle small arms fire well. The vehicle are cheap and fast, very effective.
I've never played BA, only against them. I am well aware of the nerfs to their dex.
