Self-explanatory: why do so many people hate Ward and his work? It doesn't seem all that bad to me.

No, seriously. I don't understand why so many people hate him. I like the way he depicted the Space Marines in general and the Ultramarines and the Grey Knights particularly - makes me feel as though the 41st Millennium Imperium has not yet lost the promise of the Great Crusade, and hope endures against the enemies of Man.

If you want answers, research and effort go further than asking the same old flame bait questions. Just curious, how many editions have you been around for?

Let's see, I first got into 40k with the Horus Heresy novels, so I don't really have much liking for the Ecclesiarchy and their messing around with the Emperor's dream, then I got the DoW series to introduce myself to the 4ast Millennium, then I downloaded the BFG Rulebook. Very impressed with the Imperial Navy, and then I downloaded copies of some of the newer codices (5th for Space Marines, Imperial Guard, and Grey Knights, 4th for Chaos Space Marines, Eldar and Tau).

check out 1d4chan's article on Ward. You'd be surprised how much of it is real.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

I don't like 4chan or its derivatives...some of the things they write...they ought to be flogged/keel-hauled

What? Like 10%? I mean, they get his name right, as well as spell Games Workshop correctly.

Repeat this to yourself. "1d4chan is a humor site. It shouldn't be taken too seriously."

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

I still say they ought to be flogged or keel-hauled..."Bosun Silver!"
