Hey all,
have been a horde player for a while now, but am tiring of moving and losing so many guys. Plus its normally not too hard to stop with reasonable anti infantry. So am looking at making up a trukker list.
997pts
HQ
Big Mek - KFF 85pts
Troops
12 Slugga boys 152pts
PK nob with bosspole
Trukk with red paint job
12 Slugga boys 152pts

12 Slugga boys 152pts
PK nob with bosspole
Trukk with red paint job
12 Slugga boys 152pts

I'd like it to be reasonably competitive, and mainly vs IG and a DE flying circus - which would be difficult with this, so maybe switch bosspoles for rokkits?
Thoughts?

DE can't run a flying circus, we max out at 3 fliers, up to 5 with allies, 6 if we take IG. Anyhow, it looks like a solid list but lacks some TAC ability. DE, would destroy this build, as you are essentially packing 6 Big Shootas, which is 1 pen and one glance per turn on average. Against IG it will fair better, but will have problems with russes. I think this build has potential, maybe drop a truck or two for support units, Lootas come to mind, as they can handle light armor and fliers somewhat well. Making some squads shoota boys could also help, allowing you to use the right tools for the right job.

ok so maybe drop two trukks giving 304pts, with 2 trukks with shootas and two with sluggas. Then 4 rokkits for each remaining trukk. With the 304 could take 20 lootas but im not completely sold on them. What about 6 twin-linked rokkit warbuggies and 3 zapp guns with runtherd and 3 more crew?
So overall:
Big Mek - KFF
2 x 12 shootas in trukks
2 x 12 sluggas in trukks
3 x 2 twin-linked rokkit buggies
3 zapp guns with runtherd and 3 more crew

9 Lootas for 135 points, or 8 for 120.
You know why this is cool? They can sit in cover, go to ground, and still snap fire at flyers. Huzzah.
If you're facing flyers, you *need* lootas, they are a requirement. Don't leave home without them.
Also, if facing flyers, a Dakkajet is a nice thing to bring to the party. 9 S6 shots, twin-linked at BS3 is killer to other flyers, especially squishy AV10-11 ones. On a Waaagh turn, that doubles to 18, which is enough to glance down the AV 12 flyers.

I can see it now....Nids are now a collection of autonomous hive fleets there are multiple Hive Minds and they all war with one another in addition to everyone else. They speak to humans using telepathy, and they can now ally with Space Wolves as battle brothers, because reasons.
Tyranids talking to humans would be like you talking to your mashed potatoes or the probiotic in your kiefer drink. It is neither possible nor productive. Inside my mind I pinched my nipples and savored his bitter silence.

That looks to be more balanced, I prefer deffkoptas over buggies for a TL rocket delivery system. But buggies work too. Zzap guns are fine, but I still standby lootas as the choice ranged support.

ok, so it seems buggies arent so favourable.
So what about taking out all the buggies and zapp guns, then replacing them with 3 TL rokkit deffkoptas, and 10 lootas? Or alternatively could take 2 deffkoptas with PKs and TL rokkits plus the lootas. I know they're only strength 6 PKs but still, its mobile and good for light tanks.
I always thought it would be preferable to have your groups like lootas fearless. As going to ground looses a whole turn of action for them. Maybe kinda wierd but can orks take aegis defence lines as a fortification, could whack the lootas behind that, which is also useless for the rest of the list, but just curious?
Im not so keen on nob bikers as they're really expensive, and wont help with fliers. I feel like if I can get the trukks in there, the PK nobs can still do the job
And yes 1 boy out of a trukk, cheers
Plus for landraiders, other than a biker warboss, i feel like orks will always have a hard time dealing with them. I've never got tankbusters close the a raider or russ before, let alone a chimera so dont bother with them anymore.

I personally like battlewagons instead of trukks. Obviously its a totally different list but their staying power at front armour 14 is much stronger. Also the ability to carry more than 12 guys is huge. I think trukks are weak this edition as 12 boys is just not dangerous anymore.

I ran the the warbuggies like a boss in 5th edition. I loved them. Im pretty sure you get TL rockets on them too don't you? My memory is fuzzy and i'm not home where my Codex is.
However, I've tried to use them in 6th and they die so fast. Not a fan anymore (Even after my long hard hours of custom building mine :( )
Deffkoptas i've been on the fence about. I haven't had time to use them extravagantly, however, they do get the 5+ Jink (at least I thought they did).
I know some people used to use the Buzzsaw on them a lot. Personally I don't think they're worth the points, especially seeing how you can't alpha strike with them any longer.
I've decided the shelf my Deffkoptas for now until 6th ed update for Orks come out. I'd rather just pour the points into my loota squads. The way I see it; My lootas are going to be able to pop anything Av13 a lot more
efficiently then this one TL BS 2 rocket that can only glance a av14. Furthermore, If i am faced with something AV14, My PK's will/should be able to take care of it.'
Hope this helps, bud.

Honestly I would not remove a boy from a truck. I would lose one nob and put a burna on that big mek along with a boss pole and stick him in a truck.
As to the back feild .heavy support go with kannons (2) a couple extra Grots (cheaper) And an Aegis Defence line with Quad Gun and have the extra grots manning Quad gun
.

Yeah, Lootas are really useful to have, especially with all the fliers around, so I'd see if you can find the points to get about 10 or so. Also, I'd recommend getting at least one Battlewagon complete, of course, with 19 Boyz and your Mek. This just makes it a little harder for your opponent to stop all your vehicles reaching their lines. After all, Trucks can be glanced to death by bolters and most other army's equivalents.
