Hello,

I've been going through the Necron codex and coming up with a variety of combos and Flayed Ones keep coming back up.

I've always read "Flayed Ones are aweful. Don't use them." However, They've got the statline of an 'Ard Boy, but with better leadership and the ability to infiltrate along with Reanimation Protocols for 3 points more than an 'Ard Boy.

What about using a Monolith to pull them around if needed?

What about sticking an Overlord with a Warscythe and a Ressurection Orb in there? They'd be very hard to keep down.

Some comments are probably going to mention that "Wraiths are better," but frankly, I've never had too much luck with them in games.

Any thoughts? (Please don't mention model cost, as that doesn't affect how they act in game)

The FO death star with a res orb overlord cannot go toe to toe with another dedicated assault unit without risking getting wiped out by a sweeping advance, and the outlook is really grim if they get charged or counter charged by an assault unit. By the time the overlord and res or is added in the squad costs about 400 points, and it tends to die be sweep to 200 point range squads such as 30 ork boys, 9 screamers, or 6 wraiths

I do however believe a small squad can be useful. They can threaten squish ig/tau/eldar backfield units, or tar pit a sm backfield units like dev squads, tfc, long fangs, havocs, psyflemen dreads, or forgefiends. At 65 points the squad doesn't have to win to win, they only have to tie up a dakka unit long enough for the wraiths to make it across the field. Ninja units like 5 fo take a lot of finesse to use, they are not an easy touse sledgehammer unit like wraiths.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.
