Hey everyone,

In Forgeworld's 6th edition vehicle conversion PDF, they list the 'Ork Half-Trakk' as a distinct unit, with 3 Hull Points, Open-Topped and a Tank.

Here's a pic of the model from the FW site (clicking on the image will take you to its product page):

Now, I have every single Imperial Armor book, and I've scoured through them all, but I can't seem to find any entry at all for an Ork Half-Trakk as a distinct unit.

IA Vol. 8 has a diagram of what looks like the Half-Trakk on the bottom of pg 151, but this is just part of the entry for the Trukk; nothing distinct rules-wise for the Half-Trakk that would make it a Tank that I can see.

So, does anyone know where or if these rules have ever existed?

Please help a brother out!

I also noticed it's not listed as a transport on FW's site... I'd just count it as a Trukk myself.

The idea is that it takes extra effort and time to write properly, and they’d rather save the time. If you can still be understood, what’s the harm? While most of the time a sloppy post CAN be understood, the use of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling is generally seen as respectable and desirable on most forums. It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.

Not having any of the books - maybe it's mentioned under another entry - like the Big Trakk that is similar? (according to the linked pdf anyway)

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

Its possable that it will have its own rules at a later date and they just snuck it into the update.

For now, its just an alterantive Ork Trukk.

You mean a counts-as ork trukk, right?

And why would they sneak in future rules into the 6th edition update? That's adding an errata to the Tyranid codex that says "Heavy Bioyowler Cannons are AP2 instead of AP1."

Could also be a typo, or oversight. But they gave the gun trukk 3 HP too, and that was just a trukk with a big gun instead of transport ability. Looks like resin is Tuffa

Well it has been stumping us ..

I think I remember the Half Trukk option rules in a pdf document ..in the form of a track upgrade to a Trukk and I don't think those rules made it to IA8. The experimental pdf would have been out around the time of Newsletter #215-#217 before the release of IA8.

I really need to be archiving all the FW/GW pdf documents.

From Newsletter #215

Ork Halftrakk
Our new Ork Halftrakk model, designed by Will Hayes and Owen Branham, is a hybrid kit of the plastic Ork Trukk and resin conversion parts which you can see Here. This model uses highly detailed resin components to replace the Trukk`s engine block with a more powerful engine and its standard wheels with some armoured front road wheels and a heavy rear track unit. While you can easily use the Ork Halftrakk to represent a `Kustom` Trukk in your Ork Army, (and makes a great Meganob transporter!) it will also be used in conjunction with forthcoming Forge World releases and Imperial Armour rules.

The Ork Halftrakk is available to pre-order now for release the week commencing the 27th of July.

From Newsletter #217

The Great Waaagh Approaches!
We have no less than eight new releases for the Orks this newsletter and observant hobbyists have probably already guessed our renewed focus on the Orks is all to do with our next Imperial Armour book, which will feature these savage xenos in desperate battle against the Imperium. This first big batch of Ork releases features some great new vehicle mounted weapons, a new hybrid Enclosed Trukk model and one brand new full resin tank, the Ork Big Trakk. These are all superbly detailed models and can add some fantastic variety and character to your Ork Armies. You can see pictures of new releases on the links below.

Our new Ork releases are:

Big Trakk Designed by Will Hayes (full resin tank model) This heavy Ork transport can also be used to carry Big Gunz into battle. A brutal-looking machine, the Big Trakk comes with twin-linked big shootas, a massive gas-turbine engine, and ramming tusks.

Enclosed Trukk Designed by Will Hayes and Phil Stutcinskas. (a hybrid resin and plastic model using the Ork Trukk kit). The model makes for a great alternative for your Trukk fleet as well as an excellent base for your own conversions. Its enclosed cab can also be used to represent the Armour Plates upgrade on a trukk.

Flakk gun Designed by Phil Stutcinskas (full resin Big Gun with three grot crew and an Ork gunner) this is a quad-barrelled elevating cannon platform that can give the Orks some much needed air-cover as well as rip apart light vehicle squadrons with ease.

Gretchin Crew Designed by Mark Bedford (eleven resin grots) some wonderfully characterful grots to crew your big gunz or use as riggers for your vehicles, and generally make a nuisance of themselves!

Big Zzappa Designed by Will Hayes (full resin Big Gun with three Grot crew) this marvellous looking `death ray` is adorned with all manner of strange-looking gubbinz and is as dangerous to the enemy as it is unreliable.

Killkannon Designed by Will Hayes (full resin Big Gun with three Grot crew) able to blast apart even heavily armoured troops as the Orks advance, the Killkannon easily lives up to its name and adds heavy firepower to your Waaagh!

Big Lobba Designed by Will Hayes (full resin Big Gun with three Grot crew) this somewhat crazed-looking gas-powered bomb launcher is used to lob explosive shells high in the air, and possibly the occasional grot with it!

Supa-Kannon Designed by Mark Bedford (full resin really Big Gun with three crew, available either on its own or as a compete Battlewagon with Supa Kannon using the plastic Ork Battlewagon kit) This giant artillery piece looks just as ramshackle and brutal as you might expect from the Orks, and can be used to smash enemy defensives, shatter bastions and fortifications so the boyz can get stuck in.

Many of these kits are designed so that in true Orky style you can mix and match between them and particularly in the case of the Big Gunz you can fit them to Trukks, our Half Trakk, Big Trakks, Gun Wagons, Battle Wagons and your own custom models. We also have some great new grots to crew your vehicles and weapons. Each of the new Big Gunz comes with its own crew, and you can also buy the full set of eleven models separately! A quick note on the Supa-Kannon as well, this is a huge gun intended to be mounted on a Battlewagon, Big Trakk or something equally as large! Look out for more Ork releases in the near future.

All of these models are available now for immediate release, and experimental rules for them can be downloaded under the Big Trakk rules Here.

I'm at work and without my books, but is it a sub-type of the Ork Big Trakk in Imperial Armour Apocalypse II?

I know it's not part of the big trakk in IA8, and a diagram of it is shown in the trukk section right under or over a diagram of a regular Ork trukk.

I've heard of rules without models before... but are there any other models without rules? (not models that no longer have rules - models for which rules were never published)

Curb stomping in the Eye of Terror!

Isn't the regular trukks 3 HP too?

I thought the only difference between half-track vs normal trukk was that the half-track was listed as a tank and reroll terrains. Just going by memory here...

So far I've found Big Trakk (which it definitely is not) and an upgrade for Warbuggies to Wartrakks.

Near as I can tell, it is a Trukk that can re-roll Difficult and Dangerous Terrain tests as long as it is moving at Combat Speed.

However, this is pure speculation based on IA8 and IA Aeronautica.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I had thought 2, but a quick check shows 3hp.

Given the date (July 2009) I would think IA Volume 8 (Mid 2010 release) is the only logical place for the rules to appear,

Seems maybe their "future plans" got sidetracked and when it came to updating stuff for 6th, they just hammered out some rules for each model and it finally got a profile.

I went through my books last night and did some google-foo. Other than the newsletter posted above, I can't find ANYTHING on the Half Trakk.

Emailed forgeworld and, amongst other questions, asked about this.

Their reply:

We did initially plan to design half-trakk rules, but eventually the decision was taken to release and write rules for the Big Trakk, and to leave the half-trakk and flatbed trukk kits as simple trukk variants.

Great, a definitive answer!

Thanks for that. You should follow up with the question about why they've put a separate entry for it on their 6th edition update PDF, though, as they should really take it off to avoid this kind of confusion.
