I love it when a plan comes together!
CHICAGO — State Sen. Donne Trotter on Wednesday was busted for bringing a handgun and bullets through an O’Hare Airport security checkpoint on his way to catch a flight to Washington, D.C., sources told DNAinfo.com.

Trotter, who last week announced he would seek the Congressional seat vacated by former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., was charged with felony attempt to board an aircraft with a weapon, law enforcement sources said.

TSA agents discovered an unloaded .25 caliber pistol and a clip loaded with live rounds packed inside Trotter’s garment bag about 8 a.m. Trotter told investigators that he worked the late shift for security for Allpoints Security and Detective Inc. the night before and didn’t realize the weapon and bullets were in his bag when he packed for his trip, sources said.

Trotter remains in custody pending a bond hearing and couldn’t be reached for comment. A spokesman at Trotter's Chicago office declined comment.

Trotter had a valid firearm owner's identification card that was registered to his Senate office at the state Capitol building, sources said.

But it was unclear whether the pistol was registered in Chicago as required by the city’s handgun ordinance.

Trotter, who lives in South Shore, served in the state House from 1988 until 1993 when he won the state Senate seat he still holds.

How do you know he sponsered 31 gun control laws?

Anyway, very silly and careless of him.

Poetic Justice?
In what way?
I mean, I can certainly describe this as humorous, but "poetic justice" is a bit melodramatic don't you think?

This is just performance art. If his 31 gun control bills had actually passed, perhaps he would have been unable to obtain the firearm, and thus prevented from bringing it on an airplane.

James Bond.
Unscrupulous anti gun politicians with fake security jobs to circumvent gun control legislation they impose on others.

Hey, .25 is an effective gun.

It's gonna hurt if somebody throws that gun against your head.

See, it was all part of the liberal plot to call attention to how broken the system is and how we need more gun control to stop something like this from even happening again. But it would be too much to ask for him to sacrifice his ideological purity and own a real gun, so he decided to go for plausible deniability and later claim that a mere .25 doesn't really count as a gun.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I've got a friend with a couple of them.

Small pistols that were chambered for .25ACP but he had them redone for .22 as .25 has been very hard to source outside the US for decades (and is hard enough to find IN the US).
