Anybody who knows me on the local Los Angeles scene knows that I'm a foundation player in tourneys ... I support others on their way to the top

This thread is sorta like that discussion of "What would you buy if you hit the lottery?" Answering with things like, a Porsche, some horse property upstate, a Victoria Secret model ... etc.

My Q to the Tournament community is, "What army would you ask for, if you won a GT?" You know the kind of prize (not supported by GW, but the tourney organizers) that is 'an army of your choice up to 1850' . I know I won't win a GT, evah, but it's fun to think about getting an army, painted-to-order, and not *getting* it, but WINNING it.

I think most of us can agree that financially, the cheapest, tourney capable build is Drago-Wing, right? (or wuzzat Coteaz?) $400 or less ... 2 Psyflemen, and a buncha Termie pants, right? (It's been a while since actually saw someone play that build, so I'm prolly off by a few models).

What would the the *priciest*, tourney capable build, that a douche might for ask as a prize?

Something from IG? 6 or 9 Leman Russ Executioners and 9 Vendettas, with remaining Chimeras?
9 Venoms with razorwing Jetfighters? And all those extra KabWarrior boxes, to get the 12 Blaster wielding True-born.

What's your Dream prize at the end of the GT?

Priciest would have to go to the Sisters of Battle.
Personally I'd ask for an army I don't already collect, maybe even from Fantasy. I'd love a Dark Eldar Army. I also would like an Empire army. If I could pick the army and it's composition, I'd pick Cronair. I really like the Scythe model and want a whole fleet of them. I also don't own any of the new infantry kits, so some Tesla Carbine Immortals would be cool. Maybe a few Wraiths to go with them. I absolutely love the Spider.

You bring up a good point ... for the discussion, fer sure, a winner would prolly ask for an army he doesn't own.

Sisters are certainly a good one. And yes they are definitely tournament capable especially with some GK allies.

Now, assuming allies are out as part of the asking.

I would want foot guard with max vendettas.
The nasty tyranids MC list I have seen at a few of our local tourneys.
60 man GK strike squad foot horde army.
Noise Marine foot csm army.

If FW were available as prize support an all HH marine army would be sweet... Too pie in the sky though I think, right?

Of all those I would really like the all Noise Marine army with a few havoc missile squads.

And i'd ask for an All shooter Horde Termagant force.

5 Tervgions, 90 Termgants with Devourers and Some Fexes to back up the army with TL Devourers. Maybe some Hive Guard elites too.

I'd love a DKoK army, those models are simply amazing.

If we were to stick with GW shelf products only, then:

Cronair
IG Vendetta strike force
Fantasy Empire Artillery College force
WoC Cavalry Force

Would also like a Wood Elf force, purely because I like the models.

Well, if your going for trying to break the bank; I'd look at all the 40K approved ForgeWorld stuff. Space marines with 3 storm eagles as your Fast, along with a Land Raider Achilles and 3 Contemptor dreadnoughts in Lucius drop pods.
IG with Platoons of dudes each with loads of different sabre defence platforms. At least a dozen Ogryn. Colossus and Medusa heavies and Hydra flak batteries. Vultures and Vendetta Squadrons.
And a fortress of redemption (or the new $160 trench-line set).

But then i'm somewhat of a jack-hole too. LOL.
