Hi guys. I got into Warmachine because I like the jacks and the a lot of people play it around here.

I have talked to a few people and I have not observed a game or read the rules; I know these are things I should do, but I am interested in what I should buy!!

That is always more fun right?
I want to build a list at 25 pts that scales well to 35 pts and 50 pts.

Here is what I have:

Lancer
Firefly
Charger
Sentinel
Cyclone

For Warcasters, I like:

Kraye, the 3 Nemos.
Siege looks cool.

Solos:

I really like the Archduke, Flinn has a lot of character.
Katherine Laddermore I like

Troops,

I am really open here, but I like the Precursor Knights and Swordsknights.
I read a lot the gun mages/strike team are good and I like those models too.

Any ideas?

On the plains of hesitation lie the blackened bones of countless millions who at the dawn of victory lay down to rest, and in resting died.

Siege would work well with the ideas you have, Cyclone, Sentiel and charger maybe

Khador 75p
Menoth 35p
Circle 25p
Legion 25p

I don't see a problem with using the sword knights as a tar pit unit. If you end up with some spare points you might consider marshaling a melee jack to them to help with flanking, but the knights alone still wouldn't be bad for tying up enemy units.

Though if you expect them to last very long as a tar pit unit, you'll need a Journeyman for Arcane Shield and/or the Piper for Tough.

And grayshadow87 is absolutely correct that a jack with Reach is a must with Sword Knights. The boost from Flank will make them capable of tearing jacks and beasts to pieces.

"As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely just a result of wishful thinking." Pete Haines
For the love of the Emperor people, it's a TURRET. There is no such thing as a turrent!
