I heard a rumour that Skytrex might be getting out of the miniatures game altogether ( I would have put this in the News thread but I think only us would care anyway).

With this they are starting to discount items, as they shift their stock. Can anyone confirm/corroborate this?

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

Well, I just had a look at their Command Decision figures, and the prices seem to have gone UP 50% since i last scanned through a couple of weeks ago! It used to be 10 man packs = £2.50 and 50 man packs = £9, but the price at this point seems to be £3.75 and £13.50 respectively!

They are nice figures, and I have a load of them, but that must be a mistake?

Touche.... That raised a rye smile. Seriously though it's from a very reliable source who knows them personally, and he told me to get my orders for British Para jeeps/ crew and 75mm etc in ASAP.

It seems they want to sell off the miniature business.

Skytrex – Amazing Opportunity

Skytrex sales continue to increase because of your continued support. Thank you.

As our team is getting “older” (lots of white beards) we are looking for interested parties to work with us to take on some of the Skytrex ranges. This is how many of the ranges that you love today came into our hands!

What you will need, wherever you are based in the UK, Europe, USA or elsewhere, is to be a able to demonstrate that you have the funds to take on a range, plus more importantly the interest and vision to take the ranges forward.

Skytrex will provide full training including sales, marketing, production and technical support while longer term we are there to back you up.

There really is nothing better in life than to wake up doing something you love every day! If this is of interest please email tricia@skytrex.com with your details and we will start the conversation.

Somebody will pick up this range, so I wouldn't be worried at all of CD to "disappear". 15mm WW2 is way to hot right now.

BF could do this and then shut it down.

Like they bought Wargames Illustrated and Gale Force 9 and shut them down? That doesn't even make sense.

I thought the range Skytrex sells is the Old Glory CD range, right? If so, the line shouldn't be going away, you'd just have to get it from OG instead of Skytrex. Or is OG just the American distributor or something?

The Command Decision range that Skytrex sell is also available through Old Glory.

The Command Decision range is an excellent range, hopefully someone does pick it up.

I heard about the 25% discount from a friend yesterday.

They're the US manufacturer. Skytrex produces the masters and molds and distributes to UK/EU, while OG produces & distributes to North America.

The problem is OG (being cheap) will use the molds well past their useable life, whereas Skytrex won't. This means that many OG minis come with severe moldlines, flashing, and defects. So, I actually hope they don't buy the rights from Skytrex.

I wonder how much they are willing to sell the line for? Think we could pool are money together?

Or if we cannot buy them maybe Wil over at PSC will. that would be cool.I know wishful thinking...

Well I know how much they want for it... My mate enquired.

Not sure why anyone would buy it. Alot of the ranges are dreadful.

25% sale after raising their prices by 50%... I find that funny!

To be fair Big P, some of their Modern British stuff is quite nice, if over priced, I mean £9 a Tank? The QRF stuff is better value for the price, and you can get some nice discounts if you time it right.

Two things I do like about Skytrex, large packs of infantry like British Para Jeep riders, and also nice support weapons if you don't want Battlefront or Forged in Battle they make a nice Alternative.

Skytrex have made no secret of their desire to sell their range of Wargaming stuff off for a while now. They make far more money from their model railway ranges.

Big P, could you give us a ballpark on the value? And was it for all their lines, or just, say, WW2?

I'm curious to know whether I should start seriously thinking about a joint venture like col crazy kenny mentioned, or just buy the stuff I want now

And thats is the problem for any perspective buyer.

Some is ok, and alot is utter tat. Their 20mm figures are featureless blobs.

I will concede this point. It's a pity, because with a bit of investment and an overhaul, this might be turned into a decent range, albeit in a crowded market.

To extend upon this point and specifically in regard to 15mm WWII. Their stuff is now as expensive as BF in a market that to my mind is really all about the new plastic manufacturers and FiB. Even Pig seems to have conceded this point by making crew for the Zvesda Katyusha. As an aside I hope that Pig continues to produce cool 'low volume' kits like this because Pig is by far the best manufacturer* for 'character' pieces.

Basically only the stuff that PSC and Zvesda don't make is of any value and while there is a fair amount of this of generally good quality I guess it isn't representative of their whole range.

I was up for buying a bunch of their PZIs until I saw the price. I'll be buying mine from FiB. FiB's stuff is really nice and metal models are never going to compete with resin** for price.

* - Let's not discuss mouths shall we, it's accepted by all that Pig's mouths are terrible.
** - Obviously ignoring Forgeworld.
