So myself and a friend are splitting the Hordes 2 player box this Christmas, and I was wondering how this list looked to more experienced players. I have the old Pureblood Warpwolf model which I really like, so I put that in the list and removed the Argus. Does this list look solid?

Kaya the Wildborne - +6
Winter Argus - 5
Feral Warpwolf - 9
Pureblood Warpwolf - 9
Warpborn Skinwalkers (Leader and 4 Grunts) - 8

I haven't played with Hordes myself, so I'm a bit clueless on the rules for them. Any and all feedback is welcome and appreciated!

I don't know, as I'm coming back to Hordes in these days, too, but since it's what you have I'd say go for it

also, don't drop the Argus without even ever playing it. I'd also suggest to play your first couple of games with just Kaya and the beasts in the box (without the Skinwalkers), only then add and swap stuff.

I agree with the above post, don't put the pureblood in first, allow some time to get used to the playin style of the force

Ok, thanks for the advice. I didn't take the Argus because the above list does not have space for it, I dare say I might swap it with the Winter Argus just to see how it plays, and may use it at 15 points.

15 point list:

pKaya -6
Feral Warpwolf 9
Argus 4
Warpborn Skinwalkers (Leader and 4 Grunts) 8

good idea, use all the models in various ways, it really helps when you expand your force

I liked your first list better. If you have played Warmachine/Hordes before, and just not Circle, you will catch on to the rules just fine. If you haven't, try a game or two at 15 points, but don't be afraid to jump in with some infantry; the rules are very similar, and they add a lot of interest.

The Pureblood is a really fun option too, as unlike the argus (either variant) whose sprays are pretty iffy, getting used to the threat range on the Pureblood really pays off in a lot of ways. Getting a good feel for trotting him up just to the edge of Kaya's control area (12" from her) and tossing down the template to tag something ~12" away (2 inch base = 10" spray) then having her teleport him back to safety is a good lesson both in creative ranging, isolated strikes, and seeing the table from a lot of different angles. Also, totally hilarious.

The argus is not so great, just a heads up. He has a spot in a few lists, but as much as I want to like him (I have like 4 laying around at this point) he just is not the best thing we have to spend 4 points on. Not even the second best thing.

Thanks, I've played a few 15pt games with my Cygnar models, so I know a bit about the rules, although I'm still learning!

I had heard the Argus wasn't great which is why I wasn't too worried about keeping at at 25pts.

And thanks for the tactic with the Pureblood, I'll be sure to try that out at some point!
