Bit of breaking news this afternoon then! Games Workshop are holding on to the Standard Editions for now until all their Limited Edition stock is cleared through, if you have ordered Standard Edition from us you will be contacted accordingly but for everyone else who missed out...

and a free gift with code 'XMASDRAGON'.

What does this mean for the boxed set? Sales not as foreseen due to people not liking the Radagast model? Perhaps its just a bad time of year, or is LOTR really just never going to be up there with 40K and Fantasy... Discuss .

P.S I have my copy and IT IS AWESOME!

Do you NEED the big rule book? I was under the impression that any of the older books with force stats and points are still valid.

I'm not sure, but speaking from experience the mines of moria book contained different points values to the one rulebook, there may be minor differences although I am 100% certain you can easily play the game with the smaller rulebook included in the box set.

You need the big rulebook if you want to use the box contents outside the box as in normal games of lotr etc as that has the points in it for them. You dont need the big book though if you just play boxed game and nothing else
