I've Recently been Working on some rules for a Valkyrie Variant, Using the Valkyrie Body, but with the Aircraft Punisher Cannons Upgrade Pack, For those of you that want to see the Upgrade pack:

The Idea was to make an Anti-Infantry Flyer for 40k That could Zoom in, kill aloda guys, and Zoom back out.



Her are the Rules:



Points: 125

Composition: Vehicle Squadron Composed of 1-5 Punisher Gunships,

Profile:
Bs: 3,
Fa: 13,
Sa: 12,
Ra: 12,
Type: Flyer (Fast when Skimming)



Hull Points: 3,

Transport: 12 Models (No Ogryns)

Wargear: 1 Lascannon (AA), 2 Punisher Gatling Cannon, 2 Hunter Killer Missiles, Search Light, Extra Armour,

Special Rules: Grav-Chute Insertion, Hover Mode (Scout), Heat-Proof Plating,



Heat Proof Plating: The Punisher Gunship is designed to travel at high speeds in atmosphere, the resistance can be so intense that it is platted with Heat-Proof plating os that the entire gunship doesn't Burn up. The 'Melta' Special Rule does not affect the gunship.

Aim Assist: Looks Below (Its an Upgrade). When in Skimmer Mode the Punisher Gunship has an Extra Weapon (that can be fired) with the following profile:

Name: Aim Assist Laser
Range: 72"
S: -
Ap: -
Type: Assault 1*

If the chosen Target is hit all units (Including the Gunship) may Re-Roll To hits against that unit.
Options:

May Swap Hunter Killer Missiles for 2 Bomb Pylons..........5p
May Take Aim Assist.................................................................10p



Is it to Powerful, to many points, to little points e.t.c. please tell me I really want to field and would like other people to be able to field it?

The Vulture with TL punisher cannons is already a good unit, yours has way more firepower (two separate guns instead of one twin-linked), more armor, melta immunity, transport capacity, squadrons, and costs 30 points less. That's insanely overpowered and it will be a cold day in hell before I, or any other sensible player, let you use your "I want to win" unit.

So... you want a cheaper valkyrie with extra special rules, and two free punisher cannons? I don't think many people would be ok with that.
I'm gonna say that you should just proxy your valk as a vulture if you really want to use them.

As it is... too powerful, not enough points

Way too undercosted, and fills essentially the same role as the vulture, only more powerful and cheaper (vulture at 155pts is already a great deal). 13 armour flyer with melta immunity is ridiculous. And one that spits out 40 str5 a turn (plus a lascannon and missiles) is just absurd.

How about something more along the lines of an AC130 type air-support craft using Valkyrie as a base? It's not exactly a helicopteresque gunship (use the vulture for that), but more of a flying bunker that can circle the battlefield providing air cover.

I would be happy with the stats, but the pricing should be more in the 200+ points region (notice how I said "+").

Much due to vendettas being 130, but the issue there is that the vendetta is undercosted by about 50pts ( at least), this should make a valkerie about 160, yours 180 and a vendetta 190-200pts.

I honestly don't see why you can't just use the Vulture for this. Like someone said previously, no-one would play a Flyer which has 2x Punishers, 2x HK Missiles, a Lascannon, the ability to make their weapons TL and can carry a full squad. How would you even fit all those weapons on the thing anyway; the Valkyrie only has 2 wing hardpoints.

Well it's simple, you replace the giant crew bay with ammunition and... wait...

I have a friend who runs pretty much this model.

He points it up as a Vendetta with a single Lascannon and a TL Punisher cannon.

We've played it a few times and it seems pretty balanced - it is nasty face that Punisher cannon when it can zip across the table.
