I'm looking at doing an evil army, I love the uruk-hai so I'm thinking about going for an Isengard army? How does LOTR work, can I take allies easily?

I've only had one game of LOTR, re-playing the scene when Sean Bean gets killed defending the two halflings. I really enjoyed it so want to get a bigger army.

I've got some elves (archers and swordsmen), some minas tirith troops, some uruk hai pikemen, a balrog, some of army of the dead too, as well as a few hero units. Originally I collected the models I liked

Has anyone got any tips to what I should start collecting? I love the idea of having decent, tough to beat troops, and a monstrous creature or a Hero unit, to boost my army and create a distraction.

If anyone knows a better army for what I'm after, or can even suggest an army list, thank you

The rules for allies have changed I think.

For Uruk-Hai, you should get a lot of pikemen because they're great. A few phalanxes of maybe 4x4 models is always cool.

You may actually like the Gondor Fiefdoms. They have pikes and awesome cavalry with great heroes as well. The Uruks aren't that great when it comes to heroes.

Alright lemme give you some solid easy tips to move you into the right direction. Isenguard uruks come in either normal or scouts, but you want a heavier force so id go normal isenguard warriors all the way.

Each box comes with bikes and shield guys, that set up is fine. The new monster rules benefit you so an Isenguard troll will be pretty good, if you'd prefer a hero monster you want to look at what Mordor can take. Also a ringwraith might be a cool take.

But just looking at Isenguard, Saruman is good and so is wormtongue, I like the crossbow uruk hero, the shield uruk hero is good. Feral and berkserker urukhai are both excellent, but I would stay away from artillery. If you can get crossbow troops cheap or convert your own it would be excellent!

Other than that Isenguard should be a good force!

Oh yeah and ally rules are super simple now. You just take whatever warbands you want as long as they are evil, if you are evil. So for example my goblin army can take the witch king leading orcs, but not Aragorn

Thanks

I'll check out the Gondor forces, too. They might be my second army I think I'll be collecting Elves when the Elf Cavalry is released, and the dwarves in armour look pretty sweet!

I'm definitely going with Isengard for now though, I love the idea of taking Warg (I watched The Hobbit yesterday)
