Starting HH for Christmas and am getting 2 maximus squads, BUT I've noticed it doesn't say anything about weapons! What's the story, can some one explain to me? Also what legion should I use, I'm thinking WE or EC.

That's it, you don't get any weapons with the kits.

The MKIV assault kits comes with chainsword and bolt pistols for all the models which would make me think most of the assault heresy armor kits do as well. but yah most kits they sell weapons separately. It's the same for the termie and dreadnought kits as well. It's what makes forgeworld so expensive IMO. I know for me personally I'd buy a lot more forgeworld stuff if they came with the basic weapons.

You have to use spare bolters or also get a set of FW ones. That being said I think you should go EC, the purple/gold looks AMAZING

The intent on Forge World's part is that you buy the set of bolters or heavy/special weapons you want for the armor set you want.

If they packaged specific bolter sets and heavy/special weapons with the squads they sell, there would be a lot more complaints.

Yup as the others have said the majority of HH kits barring the assault kits are not supplied with weapons, this does however let you select the MK armour and the class of bolter you specifically wanted. Ofcourse it does bump the price up a little more in having to purchase the guns but FW models are worth it in my opinion

What's the difference between the guns.

Mainly appearance and it lets you personalise squads:

Umbra Ferrox

Tigrus

They both act the same in game but I find the Umbra Ferrox to look more scouty/precise and the Tigrus far more of an upclose breaching bolter.

Something to note is that the Umbra Ferrox bolters were originally released with the "Raven Guard Space Marines Upgrade Pack" as "five alternate Sternguard Bolters".

I say go with a combo... 'Emperor Eaters'

And the reason the Forge World description of the product doesn't say anything about weapons is because they totally don't need them. They are so wicked boss awesome that they can just punch, kick, and headbutt things to oblivion.

As there are no devastator squads to speak of so I would recommend the special weapon pack with the two missile launchers in it, it is a great complement. I picked up two of them to go with 3 full 10 man squads and an extra 5 man unit. You can kit out a nice AA squad with Missile Launchers an Flak missiles. It also included flamers and melta guns.

I'd go with the Umbras. The 'chainsaw' bayonettes would look wicked boss awesome. I've been thinking of building an army using those and some MK IV suits.
