Grey Truth Renegade Chapter

- Grey Margraves Chapter
- The Grey Truth was previously a loyalist Space Marine Chapter called the Grey Margraves Chapter.
- Stationed: the Segemntum Obscurus segemntum (eye of terror region).
- Founding Chapter: Iron Hands.
- Chapter Organization: Clan system adopted from Iron Hands Chapter making each 'Company' their own self sufficient chapter (each recruits and maintains their Clan as best they see fit, each not needing the help of the others).
- Chapter type: Crusade Chapter (by choice)
- Combat Doctrine: Venerated shock assault trooper with exceptional close combat prowess. However not without merit at ranged. When firing upon the enemy they are extremely well disciplined as well as unrelenting, marching upon the enemy and raining them hell without incident. Also have thorough experienced in defence tactics and siege warfare (on both sides).
Founded in M34 from the gene seeds of the Iron Hands Chapter and stationed in the Segemntum Obscurus. Have since become a crusade chapter, travelling the Obscurus to defend humanity from their most hated enemy, the forces of Chaos, in all forms. Specialize in Chaos Incursions where they have become experts of sorts in dealing with them, much of their deeds and honours have been earned in such periods. Frequently uses ork mercenaries in such incursion with great success, using the orks as cannon folder and meat shields with the promise of loot. These actions have greatly earned them the distrust and dislike of the Inquisition, and the feeling is mutual.
During their many millenniums of fighting they have come in contact with countless citizens of the Imperium, the very people they swore to protect. In fighting in the Hives they had firsthand knowledge of the conditions their people were living in in the Lower Hives and Underehives and this greatly questioned their purpose, is a life worth living in such conditions? To further fuel this question they were then revealed the lavish lifestyles of those living in the Upperhives and Spires, the class difference greatly displeased and disgusted them.
After thousands of years of harbouring such doubts the truth was finally revealed to them in the Northern Strait Incursion of M34 where the forces of Chaos had rose from the darkness to wage war on the Northern Strait Sector. The entire Grey Margraves Chapter with the assistance of the orks came to its aid, defeating the Chaos threat but with massive losses of innocent civilians, losses which greatly affected the Chapter. In celebration the nobles of many liberated world held a great feast for their saviours. In the feast the true tyranny of the corrupt Imperium were finally revealed to them as they saw the full extent of the noble’s gluttony and excess. The entire Chapter at this point took up arms and proceeded to exterminate the nobles and anyone who tried to resist them.
Their mission was now clear. The Imperium is too corrupt to try saving, the people are suffering mercilessly under its hand. Death is their only escape from such tyranny, and we must save them. This became their truth, and they cast away their faith and name and became the Grey Truth Renegades.
They deny being called Chaos Space Marines although they have since joined the ranks of those in the Eye of Terror, worship the dark gods, adopted the foul sorceries of the warp, affiliated themselves with Khorne (God of Justice) and Nurgle (God of Death) resulting in them possessing higher than average numbers of Khorne Berserkers and Plague Marines. They say that they do these things only to further their truth, making them inefficiently a Chaos Marine Warband in all but name.
They have since devoted themselves with Chaos Incursions where they take pride in liquidating as much civilians as they can. They’re expertise of siege tactics, hive city architecture and shock tactics have given them many successes and there is no Segmentum that they have not stained. Still utilizes ork mercenaries with great effect.
Their colours are dark grey with golden brown trims.
