Refers to the sterotype of the young male adult nerd living in his mom's basement and playing WoW all day. The neckbeard is exactly what it sounds like.

To be more specific, it's someone who 'doesn't have a life' and therefore has no need to shave, instead devoting his time to more important pursuits such as how to fully optimize their fantasy daemons list.

That being said, I sport a neckbeard half the week until my girlfriend comes over...
