Seeing as he was updated for 6th...before the new codex dropped... would it be grasping at straws to assume that Zhufor is considered a "chaos lord with mark of khorne" for purposes of unlocking berserkers as troops, even though it doesnt specify? I'd really like to be able to use this guy as I had intended in the warband I've based around him.

That's for your opponent to decide, there is absolutely no RAW basis for it, but I'm sure most people would allow it (especially since they have no issues with forgeworld if you are using him).

If Abaddon can't unlock cult troops, I woildn't think other lords wirh marks could either.

I didn't realize lords had to join the units they unlocked...

You mean like Kharn the Betrayer? Lucius the Eternal? Typhus? Or am I missing your point?

To the OP: I'd say yes, but, as always, ok it with your opponent (or TO if you're playing in a tournament that allows FW).

I'd assume so, as he is a Chaos Lord of Khorne.

Whereas Abbadon is merely a Warmaster of All the gods.

Ask your opponent.

Considering how uncompetative most people seem to think Khorne Berzerkers are, I can't see many people not letting it go for fear of your army being OP, and, at least to me, it's clear that he'd make them troops were he in the codex itself.

Is he a Chaos Lord? Does he have the mark of Khorne?

If yes to both of those then yes, he unlocks Berzerkers as Troops.

Not a good counter as there's still quite the debate about this point.

RAW Zhufor isn't a Chaos Lord. Note the difference between "Chaos Lord" and "Zhufor the Impaler, Lord of the Skulltakers". The first one is a Chaos Lord, the second isn't - he's a Zufor the Impaler, Lord of the Skulltakers.

If Zhufor is a Chaos Lord just because the fluff says so, then Abaddon will unlock all cult marines as troops as he's a chaos lord (fluff) and he has all marks (rules).

So RAW no, neither of them unlocks anything else than what they do (Abaddon's Chosen).

He is listed n that unit entry as an IC and an HQ choice for a CSM army. His wargear includes the mark of Khorne.
Ergo - i would say he unlocks Berzerkers.

Admittedly the unit entry does not specificaly say he is a "Chaos Lord" but the same goes for Lucius, Typhus etc etc.

Lucius, Typhus, and friends have their own rules boxes, such as Lord of Decadence that make cult marines troops.

If Zufor unlocks berzerkers, Abby unlocks all cult marines.

2. The only official sources of information are the current rulebooks and the Games Workshop FAQs. Emails from Askyourquestion@games-workshop.com are technically official, but they are easily spoofed and should not be relied on.

1. Is Necrosius from IA7 a Chaos Sorcerer?

2. Is Zhufor the Impaler from IA7 a Chaos Lord? Since he has a Mark of Khorne, this has implications regarding Berzerkers as troops.

3. Is Arkos the Faithless from IA7 a Chaos Lord?

The biggest take away here is that they are working on the Renegades and Heretics lists, which I can't wait to see updated in the next few weeks. The second biggest take away is that it only took 1 hour and 16 minutes to get a reply!

That is actually a very good point, and a reason I wish I had my books at work sometimes. The above "ruling" making Zufor a Chaos Lord still doesn't give him a box that makes Berzerkers troops.

Pfft getting zerks as troops would be the least of the concerns i have with him. My main would be, how many attacks does he have?, since it states the MoK is included on his profile already, but now MoK doesn't give you an extra attack so... he gets -1 attack but gains Rage/counter-attack?

Also what does the personal icon do? there are no rules for it now, does it still allow DS units to avoid scattering? is it now useless?

Does he have the champion of chaos rules that forces him to accept challenges? Is he allowed to roll on the table of the gods?

He is pretty good in my opinion. He will be fun to use (terminator armor for the win) plus he gets you access to a squad of Skulltakers.
