Subject: Aegis Defense Line and blast templates: When do I get to claim my cover save?

So I came up with this bright idea of having a near-unkillable squad of having Telion and sniper scouts that hide behind an ADL, while Telion dishes out 4 Autocannon shots of doom while holding an objective.
The concept was cool, but then I played against a Necon player with a Doom Ark who was trying his damnednest to remove Telion from the table. The dispute arose when his blast templates landed either right on top of my models, or behind the models where the ADL does not cover them. (My ADL was deployed in a box all around the scouts, and the template in this case landed between the ADL and models). Does my cover save still apply, or is the cover save provided from the ADL negated?

IIRC the Doomsday arc is just a Large blast weapon lacking barrage rule.
If that's the case than you have to draw LOS to the Arc to see who is in cover.

The Doomsday is just a large blast weapon so yes you draw LOS and get cover saves as appropriate.

If it was a barrage shot thou and the middle of the blast would fall between the ADL and your unit or even over your unit then the cover would be negated as you draw LoS from the center of the blast

There are no such thing as "blast templates" they are Blast markers.
Blast and large blast weapons use the Blast or Large Blast Marker, (Which is round), they do not use the (Teardrop shaped) Template.
Note: The Blast Marker and the Template are two different things.

It is not a sidetrack. Clarification is a good thing. We wouldn't want people to go around thinking there is such a thing as "blast templates" that is the cause of most questions/threads like this. No dispute would have arisen had his opponent understood the difference between the Blast or Large Blast Marker, (Which is round), and the (Teardrop shaped) Template. This is because only the Template says it ignores cover saves.
