The Open Fire Quick Start list for Germans allows for a Grenadier Company with both Panthers and Tigers.

It would still count as an infantry company as well, (for choosing attacker, defender, etc.).

Maybe just the minimum HQ and 2 Grenadier Platoons with the rest being Tigers and Panthers?

I can’t think of another Infantry list that allows this – is this any good?

Does the lack of artillery and recce make it less useful?

Min/max doesn't work so well in this game as it does in GW lines. A half decent player will shred your 2 platoons quickly leaving you with a few expensive and fairly useless big hulls. If you want a tank force I'd suggest getting a tank company, for Germans this would likely be

HQ: PZIV (Panzer Mark 4)

Combat: 4x PZIV
Combat: 3x Panther

Remaining points spend on support, AA is almost a requirement too as expensive tanks such as Panthers and Tigers are exactly what Allied players want to wreck to make the points they spend on air back. Keep in mind a Panther costs double what a PZIV does and has the same top armour. I would advise against mixing Tigers and Panthers in the same list. Tigers seem to work well with footsloggers whereas Panthers lead the charge in aggressive playstyles.

If your HQ and combat platoons are infantry , your force counts as infantry force.

You can take armour brigade/divisional support. The 3 stugs you get with OF are decent anti tank defence,(Along with the 2 pak 40 75mm guns.)

Mortars are good cheap arty support (for the all important smoke.)

I would invest in SP AA assets.(Quad 20mm are great against infantry targets.)

I would use maybe 1 or 2 tigers as they tend to get the lions share of the attention, allowing the other units to go unmolested....

Panthers are primarily used in agressive armour lists as MarsNZ siad in the previous post.

Nerbelwefers seem very popular arty chioce for late war germans.(With mortars for smoke.)

If I was doing a German Armoured list I would check out Plastic Soldier Company.(Detailed plastic kits at reasonable prices.5 tanks for £18.5)

1 Tiger normally can be ignored but 2 Tigers you can't as 2 can be a devastating force on their own.
