So I just wanted to get some opinions on how "competitive" this list would be. I'm not going to a tournament or anything, but how nasty would it be to play against this?

At first, it seems like a very boring, spam list...but I actually think this might be sort of fun to play. Your entire army can move 12" or 20" and still shoot. You don't need any movement trays as your entire army is made up of skirmishers or single models. A ton of things just go to waste against your army...cannons are nearly useless, monsters are just a joke (even a Hydra or HPA should go down after a few volleys).

There's no anvil, but there are just so many units that you can afford to lose a few (and they're all cheap and expendable). Plus, since your entire army is skirmishers, you should be able to avoid charge arcs most of the time. And you STILL have one of the best casters in the entire game backing you up.

Spoiler:

Lords (525)
Slann
- 4 Disciplines (Immune to Non-Magical Attacks, Bonus Power Die for every spell, target enemy wizard discards 6's on all power dice, Loremaster)
- Cupped Hands
- Plaque (2+ ward against ranged attacks)
- BSB

Heroes (125)
Skink Priest
- Level 2 Wizard
- Dispel Scroll

Core (700)
10 Skink Skirmishers with Blowpipes
10 Skink Skirmishers with Blowpipes
10 Skink Skirmishers with Blowpipes
10 Skink Skirmishers with Blowpipes
10 Skink Skirmishers with Blowpipes
10 Skink Skirmishers with Blowpipes
10 Skink Skirmishers with Blowpipes
10 Skink Skirmishers with Blowpipes
10 Skink Skirmishers with Blowpipes
10 Skink Skirmishers with Blowpipes

Special (840)
5 Terradons
5 Terradons
5 Terradons
5 Terradons
10 Chameleon Skinks
10 Chameleon Skinks

Rare (300)
2 Razordon Hunting Packs
2 Razordon Hunting Packs

Total: 2490. Still 10 points left for whatever.

I'm not sure what lore the Slann should go with. The millions of poison shots should take care of most monsters and war machines. Maybe something that can easily handle tougher units...stuff with 1+ armor saves or huge hordes. What do you think?

Any thoughts, suggestions, or criticisms would be appreciated. Thanks!

4 things i can think of:

1. give the slaan lore of metal to sort out those 1+ armour saves. Life is wasted with so many MSU.
2. might be wrong, but i think at 2.5k you can only take 3 of the same unit in special, so 4 terradons units can't happen.
3. maybe take one unit of 20 skirmishers for the skink preist to go in.
4. razors are good, keep them, but i would try and fit some sallys in there as well.

As far as the army theory goes, one guy i know use to do this with his wood elves very effectively, he then switched to lizzies and did similar to you very effectively, so yes it can work.

I think this list would be brutally effective against most armies. Youll be able to set up an endless chain of double flees which should keep you out of combat. The only thing to watch out for is random movers such as HPA or Snotling Pump Wagons, but you have more than enough firepower to wipe these out quickly.

I'd definitely suggest that your best option for lore is metal so that you can take care of knight busses etc.

OP's list is the best format for lizardmen, except with a saurus bunker for your slaan. Also, take deathmetal slann. And yes, you can only run 3 of the same specials at 2.5k.

Thanks for the replies! I guess one of my biggest concerns would be Ogres. Any idea how this list would handle them?

They're just as fast as the Skinks (movement 6)...although much less maneuverable. Leadbelchers can freely target any of my units with their guns. And a Lore of Metal Slann isn't particularly effective against all their 5+ and 6+ armor (although Mournfang Cav wouldn't be too happy). Perhaps most importantly, it would take 1-2 units of Skinks just to kill a single Ogre.

As for the 4th unit of Terradons, maybe drop them for a unit of 2 Salamanders to help with hordes?

Thanks!

i wold defo get some sallys.

As for ogres, if you know you are facing them take either Lore of Shadow or maybe Death.

Another option could be tweeking the list to take a couple of Ancient Stegs with Blowpipes. Still fits the skink theme.

Final transmutation is effective against ogres, and combined with enxhanted vlades and glittering scales whilat ypur other slaan picks off characters, and possibly purple suns them.

If you dont want death and metal I recommend light and shadow/life.

Personally I would at least try and get one combat block in there. I recomend Skinks and kroxigors since they are the bane of many armies. (Stubborn, Unattackable kroxigors with Great weapons, non-thunderstompable). Combined with heavens magic they work quite well together, mayb level 1 on the heavens for the signature spell, and the slann on whatever you wish.

P.S. also try and get some salamanders in there, very very good warmachine and can roast many many things.
