Hello! A few friends of mine have decided to change things up from our normal 40k and give some Hobbit action.

I am thinking of starting a Harad force. I know nothing about this game other than the few scenarios we played through in the starter set.

Do you think they are competitive? I am not looking to really play in tournaments but dont want an army that will get destroyed if I decided to.

Whats good? Is the Mumak all that good? What should I am for in this army?

THanks!

I find that generally LOTR armies are pretty balanced.

Harad are great. You have a lot of options with them - do you want to field a horde army or an elite army? You can have Mumaks, Mahud, Serpent Guard, Corsairs, Hasharin . . . the list is endless.

I find that the Mumak is absolutely incredible. It slaughters lines of your enemies into a fine red paste (to quote a WD article).

I don't have the new books, but I'll give you this advice:
- Buy a lot of Warriors. They're decent enough, and they're cheap.
- Also have a lot of Raiders who are also cheap but they're also fast.
- A Mumak is always nice, plus the model is great!
- Serpent Guard/Riders are nice, but they're not essential.

If you want, you could also get some Corsairs.

Hope I've been of help!

Wow man thanks so much for the advice!

I was able to pick up a lot of stuff. Here is what I got. What do you think?

100 warriors (50 spear 50 bow)
1 mumak
8 serpent guard
3 assassins
1 mounted hero (cant this of name)

Seems like a ton to me. Think this was a good lot?

Think it was

100 warriors! You've really got your tribe sorted!

Did the Mumak come with a chieftain (A model with a sort of bird's beak)?

That's sick!

You should have a decent army now. Have fun with it, and tell us about it!
