I'm not an experienced guy with modelling skills, so I got stumped when I wanted to assemble 10 Assault marines only to find that I can't base them properly with just the default kit. What do I do?

It would probably help if you explain why you can't base them properly, because I've seen plenty of Assault Marines based with just the kit they come with.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

anything you want. bases are pretty ease.

PVA glue, some sand/pebbeles (or cork, that works too) paint black (or use black wash) drybrush with grey, light drybrush with white.

instant rock base. (ok near instant)

millions of possibilities with bases. have fun go nuts.

if I wasn't clear enough for you, watch this short video.

Same as the rest of your army works fine, but since this points specifically to assault marines, I'm starting to think it's a similar issue as the following thread: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/489154.page

Get some reasonably sturdy wire, put a few in midair above the bases finished in the standard way for your army.

Put several marines on the ground in either a landing or taking off pose (on heels or toes respectively). Be happy with your choice even though your enemy insists on drawing LoS to your tallest model.

I managed to steal some poster tac to make sure that they're well-supported and well-glued to the base. Think that's enough?

Just plastic glue is enough to get them onto the base.

cork basing?? in my signature there is a very hard to miss link to my youtube channel and i have several tutorials on how to make bases for miniatures and it would be perfect for your assault marines

yea cork basing. then just stick the marines either on a wire (as mentioned above) or using a flying base stick. or anything. heck use a rock and glue the toe of one foot to the tip of the rock.

You could just glue them to the base and then put on some sand, or have some large cork structures to add some more detail.
