I just got a TCP TC-20T for my birthday (woohoo!)

It's my first compressor so I'm starting with next to no knowledge of how to operate. The "instructions" included were of absolutely no use.

I've got everything hooked up and it appears to be working. However when I screw on the Regulator with Water Trap Filter, the water trap is pointing sideways (actually slightly upwards).

So my question is does the water trap need to be pointing down? Does it require gravity to work properly? If I try to leave the water filter pointing down by not screwing the regulator on tightly, it leaks air (even with a lot of tape). I've also tried loosening the nut on the side of the compressor hoping I could adjust the way the regulator is pointing when tightly screwed on. It won't budge.

If the water trap does need to point down, does anyone with a TC-20T know of a way to adjust the direction mine is pointing?

Thanks!

Yes, the moisture trap has to be pointing down in order for it to work properly. Use a small wrench to turn it tighter but make sure you have a wrench to hold back on the air outlet to prevent damage to the parts.

Congrats! I , too, have the TC-20T - it's a good compressor.

Yes - downward is best. Be very careful about over tightening those brass fittings. Believe me - I over tightened and had to send mine back because those brass fittings are very soft and it broke with the threads buried in the tank. If you got it from TCP Global don't hesitate to call them for support if you need to. Whenever I've called they've been great to help.

Also remember to drain the air from the tank when you are through by either the silver fitting on the trap or the screw on the bottom of the tank so that water doesn't become a problem within the system causing rust.
