I'll Be Back

Not sure if this is the right place for this as I am new here and this is my first post. I am getting back into the game and I really enjoy the look of the new Necrons. I guess my question would be is there a small model count army that could be played with Crons' but still be effective? Does anyone have any examples of these lists? My google searches have not returned much so I figured I would hit up the Dakka community for some possible answers. Thanks in advance everyone!

A Wraithwing based list can have a fairly low model count.
The base is:
Destroyer lord + 6 Wraiths
at 400 or so points a unit, doubling it up will give you 800 points and 14 models. You will have to make up minimum troops though, so an effective way to do it is warrior units in Nightscythes.
As already stated, you can get a low model count with flyer spam as well, but they are quite expensive armies to buy

Wraithwing and spaming flyers are pretty close to the same cost. You might be talking $50-100 difference depending on list composition

pretty much what above posts say. Just don't expect most opponents to like playing against you with those lists, epecially flyer spam

If i may... Why would people be against playing wraithwing? I can understand the flyer thing with there being a extreme lack of anti air. But is wraithwing that powerful?

Wraiths are on the higher end of the power spectrum, being slightly undercosted on a per-model basis. They are extremely good as they ignore terrain and have a 3++ save, so they can take a lot of heavy fire, and can shread smaller elite units. Fearless is also all upside with Wraiths since you would never want to GtG with them. However, a lot of people seem to forget that Wraiths die as easily to bolter fire as a space marine, and can get tarpitted by larger units.

Wraithwing is extremely strong but I can't help but think wraiths are weak against psychic powers. Jaws now affects jump infantry and can be absolutely brutal against wraiths.
Wraiths on the otherhand do extremely well against Meq. Rending, 24 attacks, and a Destroyer Lord are amazing in CC.
Preferred Enemy justs adds to the strength of the unit. Even in dwindled numbers wraiths can dish out a great deal of damage.
If your looking for a small army count, look no further wraith wing is your answer.

Take 9 spiders, a few small units of scarabs, and immortals. You can pretty much kill everything and ignore enemy fliers.
Why spiders? They have 1 more wound then wraiths, the same armor save as wraith, don't die in one hit, have a toughness that is two higher, are monsterous creatures and can make more units for you.

You won't get many games outside of tournaments using the wraithwing or flyerspam.
