Hey guys, so I'm pretty new to actually playing Warhammer 40k, having only painted them before now so to start myself off I have the Ork Battleforce (3x Bikers, 1x Trukk, 20 Boyz), 5 Nobz and a might Ghazghkull Thrakka!

My friend has just started a Tyranid army so I will mainly be playing against him for now, as well as taking my guys to the local GW store and trying them out against the guys in there too. So I was wondering what you think might help me destroy those Tyranids to start with? I've not actually put my boyz together yet either as I haven't decided if I should have shootas/choppas and so on. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Since we are in 6th now Shoota boyz are king ..
When cash allows get a second Battle Force (more boyz another truck and more bikes ..)
Bikes and Shoota Boyz seem to work well these days ..

Well man, hard to work out a list from what you got.
But you'll end up at 650p like this.
3warbikers one a nob with Boss pole / power klaw
20 shoota boyz, with 1 big shoota & Nob: bp/pk
take 5 clean nobz with ghazkull into a trukk with Red paint job and reinforced ram.

But i would have to consider a normal warboss or a big mek for you, considering Ghazzkul is only good for BIG lists like 1,5k 2k and higher up.but what you got is a start of a speed list wich can work out for you. focus on some more boyz first and get about two loota/burna boxes and get some lootas out of it, D3 hits with str 7 ap 4 on a 48 inch range is awesome! but welcome to the green side!

Shootas are definitely best, especially for something like tyranids. I would also suggest lootas as it will give you lots of high strength shots perfect for dealing with MCs, even flying ones.

Thanks for the help so far guys I shall get the battleforce open tonight and start putting some shootas together! Yeah I know Ghazghkull is better for the bigger armies but I liked him so got him for future games lol. Currently thinking of getting the warboss with the squigg on the gun to use in the smaller battles that I'll be starting with, I am tempted by the big mek too though... Maybe I should just get them all! Already set for painting some speed freaks, got all my reds ready I was thinking of painting different groups up as different clans too, we'll see how I get on, being colourblind means I struggle a tad when it comes to painting...

Phatonic - Do you mean out of the 20 shoota boyz have 1 of them as a big shoota or have the 20 boyz with the big shoota and nob along with them making the mob size 22

18 boyz + 1 boy big shoota + that nob so 20 together.

Just realised the Nob I put together is an 'Ard Boy lol, will this make much difference or should I stick with the standard Nob?
