Orks can use any colours, but some clans have preferences for certain colours, e.g. Bad Moons like yellow, so you can't go wrong collecting every different yellow paint you can find. That doesn't have to mean completely yellow uniforms, but Bad Moons are likely to wear something yellow and to favour yellow when painting their equipment and vehicles. Particularly for richer nobs and bosses who can afford lots of 'valuable' yellow stuff - a mere boy might only manage e.g. yellow trousers.

Yellow used to be a difficult colour to paint because the pigment was so weak that multiple coats were needed to get a decent solid yellow, but happily newer paints don't have this problem. (I'd still prime with white though). Some painters struggle to shade yellow - personally I'm a fan of using washes of orange and brown. Do some experimentation on spare figures.

You'll also need to decide on a green for the ork skin - I've seen everything from a bright yellowish green to a muted olive green. Again, washes are the easiest way to shade ork skin - a mixture of black and green will probably suit you. And again, do some experimentation on a couple of test figures.

Many painters like to paint ork eyes red, and that does give a nice contrast with the surrounding green skin. Get a pale brown/bone shade for teeth.

Any other colours are still great for other bits (belts, ammo pouches, boots etc). A few silvery/steely shades are good for gun barrels, and a brass colour is ideal for ammo.

Here's one of the many tutorials on youtube. He does some airbrushing but you could probably learn a thing or two from it.

Here is a more advanced tutorial on making a good looking Bad Moons yellow.

Finally, this guy does Ork Commisions and I really love his work. He does some awesome conversions and has a few tutorials on his site.
