Has anyone tried it?

How is it?

What are the highlights?

Thanks.

It's basically a book that helps you use the planetary empires thing to run a campaign, some rules for air only combat, some manuever cards for gladiator fights.

Half the damn book is a battle report and showcase of some dudes armies.

TBH, just buy battlemissions if you don't own it already.

Thanks.

My buddy and I have played Planetstrike and enjoyed it quite a bit. I was just wondering if Crusade of Fire was as fun. Doesn't sound like it...

Crusade of Fire is basically a big battle report based around one of the Studio campaigns. It gives you the rules they used to play it, and follows them as they play through it.

It is not in any way comparable to the Battle Missions book.

The Crusade of Fire campaign looks excellent. It is variable for different people's groups and collections, offers the potential for a GM (but doesn't require it) and allows players to build their own map. The map used in the studio campaign is extensive and huge. The rules given for the various Stategic Objectives as found in the Planetary Empires set are good, and encourage the players to really think about where to place them.

I think it was money well spent. I haven't played it yet, as we're in the middle of a WHFB campaign at the moment but we fully intend to run the Crusade of Fire early next year, as soon as we finish Blood in the Badlands, and I'm really looking forward to it.

Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God, but always with one wing dipped in blood. Would you ever really want to see an angel?"

But that's the problem, "Crusade of Fire is basically a big battle report based around one of the Studio campaigns. It gives you the rules they used to play it, and follows them as they play through it.". That right there is something that could easily of been part of a White Dwarf series. A good portion of the artwork wasn't even new either.

So I'd have to pay $40-$50 and carry four or five issues of White Dwarf around to make use of the Campaign? I think the book was money well spent.
