Frightening Flamer of Tzeentch
|
I had a game of fantasy today using my friends daemons and I liked them a lot so I might start them at Christmas...
Herald of tzeentch
disc and master sorcery (life or shadows depending on who I play)
Herald of Slaanesh
20 daemonnettes
sirens icon (no stand and shoot)
musician
40 bloodletters
muician
In the game that I played the blood letters killed every thing except for 6 sword masters so they seem pretty good

IMO you should get a herald of khorne instead of slaanesh for the bloodletters, and drop the daemonnettes for either horrors or flamers. This is assuming your list isn't strictly based on what you have.

If I took a herald of Khorne then I would be spending too many points on heroes for 1000 points.

Well I don't have the book in front of me at the moment but I'm sure you can find a way to trim points off of the tzeentch herald in addition to dropping the slaanesh one in order to stay with the 25% limit.

I believe you need 3 units for a legal army and I don't think heroes or lords on their own count.
For 1k I would go with a HoT with master if sorcery a small horror bunker for the HoT 2 solo fiends for redirecting and war machine hunting. Don't get flamers they suck since the WD update then try and get as many letters in there as you can if you can go 40 do it but even 6 wide they will eat anything they face, as soon as you go up to 1250 add a HoK. So something like this
HoT, MoS -Spellbreaker 165
37 Bloodletters -Standard -Musician -Icon of Endless Rage 487
19 Horrors -Musician 234
Fiend 55
Fiend 55
This will give you some basics to the game like magic, combat only thing you lack is shooting but Daemons now face that after the flamer nerf.

Even tho flamers got nerfed their still IMO useable, and what Hargus56 posted is pretty close to as well rounded as you can get at this point total.

Flamers suck. And in a 1k game they will suck more cuz they won't be able to be shielded, they'll be 1/3 of the units on the table and will get engaged in combat.
Horrors to bunker your Herald and Bloodletters to do dmg is a great start.
Almost anything else is kind of fluff. Get a bloodcrusher, they're fun. Or a fiend. The new Screamers are solid too.

Flamers are great however the point remains you need to be playing atleast 1500+ to take them so that way if you roll crappy its not to big of a let down that and you can probably afford 6 instead of 3.
Leave the disc behind, take a herald of khorne, so the 40 bloodletters are much more choppy. Though you dont really need them since they are nearly unkillable in a horde of 40. You can keep the HoTzeentch behind them and he wont get hurt too bad, or not at all I should say, they cover enough ground with a big enough footprint that anything that doesnt fly cannot get to him without you being able to react.
Just dont get pink horrors, anything will kill them with ease and at 12 points a model the extra 1-4 spells you get wont be that amazing, if you have a loremaster, since you will have the spells you really want anyways.20 pink horrors are kind of a joke, I can get 48 Men at Arms, same stats, but better strength 6+ save then 6+ ward save.... they will win math hammer 75% of the time. Pink horrors are not worth it ever unless playing 2000+ points. Even with the 4+ ward save from the herald being there. Not to mention any scrub hero will pack 3x the punch in melee. Lastly with pink horrors in a smaller point game will be too much of an investment point wise, and too much of a hassle to protect and keep out of melee to let their magic do its thing.

Flamers are great? Have you read the new update? 18" range is crap, D6 shots is the only good thing and now they suffer a penalty for multiple shots at BS4 they are hitting on 3s, multiple shots now 4s, they moved 5s, more then 9inches now 6s, ohh and they have a chance to do an additional D3 wounds to a unit, but they can also have the same chance to give your target regen that is stackable as far as I know with no cap to it. If you fire at a unit before say the bloodletters get at it, you could end up hurting how much damage the blood letters do.
A small pink horror bunker is fine, if you are getting into combat with it you are doing something wrong. Use the fiends and blood crushers to dictate your match ups.

If your taking a HoT and horror bunker is a MUST, even if its only 10 of them. By all means sit behind the horde, but have some protection in the form of a unit coz a 4+ ward just won't cut it.
