I've been lurking from time to time on this site, and now that I'm about to pick up playing again, I decided to finally register and make use of the great info that's to be had here.
To start out, I do have one question... I have an Imperial Guard army with a Storm Lord super heavy as the center piece. I've heard lately that the super-heavies can now be used in regular 40K games. Is this true?

Welcome to Dakka, Bonecrusher.
Generally speaking, you are not supposed to use super heavies in standard games of 40k.
However, if your opponents are cool with it, then it's fine (what you might call a 'house rule.')
Don't try it in a tournament, though. 
In apocalypse games, you have a lot more latitude for that sort of thing.

I haven't heard anything about super heavies in regular 40K but as long as your opponents are fine with it then I say use it.
