In your opinions who is the strongest army in the fluff. IMO it's either nids or necrons. Nids because of their near infinite numbers, adaptability and the rate of which the pop out more. Necrons because they can rebuild themselves and they have the most advanced tech

Probably the Imperium. Maybe Orks.

Homebrew Imperial Guard: 1222nd Etrurian Lancers (Winged); Special Air-Assault Brigade (SAAB)
Homebrew Chaos: The Black Suns; A Medrengard Militia (think Iron Warriors-centric Blood Pact/Sons of Sek)

That's kinda meh fluff. The Necrons do have amazing fluff, well, old fluff was amazing. I actually felt kinda scared of them when they were unemotional killing machines that couldn't care less if they die or not.

The best fluff in my opinion has to be the Eldar races. I don't know, the whole "We're a dying sad race that is just trying to survive after we basically screwed over all life in the galaxy. Oh, but we're still REALLY arrogant" is cool to me

Torn between the Imperium, and Eldar...but then Chaos fluff is pretty awesome too.

I think the Imperial fluff is quite good as you have numerous armies and people to write stories about, but then again the Chaos fluff is awesome as well.

Chaos does overall imo.

If we're talking recent codex's, DE had the best fluff in theirs by far.

My Armies:

2,700pts
2,000pts

Given advance warning and time to prepare, the best army ha to be eldar, with their focus on extreme specialisation. They're like Batman that way.
Without preparation, I'd say Orks. Tney're bred to fight.

The Eldar are, at least fluff wise. They're just too darn lazy and self-absorbed to bother using it (and well, to be honest, terrified). Moreover, the weapon systems they developed to counter the Necrons in the War of Heaven are at least on par with the Necron's tech, if not more lethal because it typically harnesses the warp. The issue is they're fighting to stay aloof and some of the weapon systems (Blackstone fortresses) have been captured.

The Nids would be my close second; there is just so much that's unknown about them, and that is what causes the greatest fear. The fact they can re-adapt and advance their weapons systems in the midst of a war is what makes fighting them so draining; it's almost like fighting a tide. Eventually the tide always wins.

if by this you mean most likely to win the war, i would say chaos. but the coolest fluff, i would have to say IoM they have a little bit of everything at some point.

Orks they are the only army that once landed on the world will always come back. If needs dont eat they dont play. orks land on a dead worlds couple of years latter orks world. Really great fighters, only real weakness is leadership, but there are so many one will come along and get the waaagh back up. Plus they use tech that the eldar dont even use.(On a one man level) the sag is a ork weapon that literally opens the warp. the iom have a grenade version but the orks have a gun version. Plus they can build multiples. Numbers, tech, sometimes smarts. Though not usually. orks plus not to mention survivability. orks are indeed the ultimate army.

orkz are da best!!!

Military and politically - Imperium of Mankind. Even after everything the rest of the galaxy is throwing at them they are enduring and even winning.
How long this will last depends on the how the fluff goes.

The universe has many horrors yet to throw at us. This is not the end of our struggle. This is just the beginning of our crusade to save Humanity. Be faithful! Be strong! Be vigilant!

Enduring? Sure, so far. Winning? Welllll... I'd say rather it's slow defeat. Still, as you say, the very fact that they've endured until now, and are still fighting every inch (forwards and back) probably makes them the strongest in the fluff, despite the fact that strength is failing.

Necrons have the worst fluff ingame, the old fluff only being marginally worse than the new version. "oh we have limitless numbers, unimaginably potent tech, we controls gods, regenerate infinitely, tomb worlds number in the *insert impossible figure here* etcetcetc

My favourites probably Eldar, Imperium or Chaos.

You misunderstand the post. What I meant was which army is the best in the story. Not who has the best fluff

Orks will just keep making more orks or grechen when killed. plus their psychic abilities. its kind of cool.

Space Wolves for me are amazing. Essentially vikings. I'm half way through the second omnibus and I love how when faced against impossible odds they are happy at the prospect of a glorious warriors death. And also the advantage they have with their amazing sences.

i would have to say Necrons or Orks.

Necrons because they will turn Physics against you.

Orks because they create things that only they know how to use, and those things do some damage...

Orks are the best because they are green.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

The best recent fluff is probably in the Dark Eldar codex (if you ignore some of Vect's ridiculousness), as it creates a very interesting society instead of just pointy-eared pirates that live between dimensions.

Nothing by Ward qualifies, because it is all so over the top as to be cartoony even by 40K standards.

The worst fluff overall has always belonged Space Wolves, and probably always will. Seriously, everything about them is just awful.

Of course, now I realize the OP is just asking who is strongest in the fluff, which IMO is the IOM ().

Fluff for the Fluff God!

In my honest opinion, and im not just biased to Orks. But its Orks. They are the one species that could never be completely eradicated or stopped. Due to their genetic code and ability to create weaponry and vehicles from bits and pieces alone is well enough to fight anyone. But Imperium and Chaos are the other two I would think could contend with Orks the most.

I love the new Necron Fluff, its glorious and has tons of room for variation.
