Ive been using the old terminators from space hulk 2nd edition for warhammer 40k games. However, I just got the dark vengance set and realized the terminators now come on bigger bases. can I still legally use my old termies in games? I have at least 20 and it would be a shame to waste them.

P.S sorry if I posted in the wrong area, im new here

I don't remember where exactly I read it, but I remember reading that you can field any model on the base it originally came on. So the 25mm bases that the old termis came on are completely legal to play them on.

Not only can you, you MUST field it on the base it was originially supplied with. Models without bases may be placed on a base size you deem appropriate.

The underlined is not true anymore.

The rules only "assume that models are mounted on the base they are supplied with." P.3

The models no longer

P.S. to be consistent I would use the new base sizes for the old Terminators.

Yes and No, while the rules don't explicitly state they must be on the bases they are supplied with, the fact that it is assumed by the rules tells you that it is the expectation of the ruleset.

Further the only exception to that situation that the book offers up is using "appropriate" sized bases using models of a similar type as guidance (i.e. if you buy a new box of terminators your only options are to mount them on the bases provided or to mount them on 40mm round bases in accordance with the fact that the most similar models use that)

Basically what I'm saying is, just because they loosened up the wording, doesn't mean players have free reign to do whatever they want with bases, there is still a standard there, they just built in certain allowances the community tended to offer up anyway.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Space Hulk models are not 40k models, and while can be used as a 'stand in', you really should consider using the "appropriate" base size which is 40mm now.

Same with GorkaMorka models. You going to exploit OOP for in-game advantages, then expect to have non 40k models removed from the game if not attempting to be appropriate.

I have seen 25mm termies get smacked down in multiple tourneys and the solution is 'play them as if they were on 40mm bases'. Makes a difference for DSing. It shouldn't be an advantage someone should need to defend.

It does, however, not give you another option, other than running it past your opponent.

2nd edition Space Hulk had the 'pivot at the waist' plastic termies, which were also later sold for 40K up until the current multi-part termies were released.

^What he said.

Between 2nd ed and when GW replaced them with the current lot of multipart modular terminators, the SH2.0 ones were the ones being sold AS the plastic SM terminators in the 40k boxes.

Pivot at the waist, head part of torso terminators.

Most of my terminators (and Ork vehicles) are the old style. I've rebased them for consistency with the newer models, but I don't think many people would see an issue.

My SM terminators (Metal RT and plastic 2nd ed ones) are all still on their 25mm bases - but I don't play anything but spacehulk with them. Last time I used SM terminators in a game was 2nd ed.

The only terminators I have on 40mm are the GKT I got in 3rd ed and I don't play 40k anymore, so it's not even relevant for me.
