Thought I'd just drop in and say hello! I've been lurking on Dakka for a long time, admiring the various models and blogs and thinking one day I'd get back into the hobby. And that time has come!

It's been approximately 15yrs since I stepped foot inside a GW store, I played a lot of Space Hulk (the original!), Blood Bowl, Epic/Space Marine, Advanced Heroquest... etc, plus Warhammer 40k when it was just a big old mess of rules and ideas in the form of the old Rogue Trader book. I did buy the 2nd Edition game but never actually played it, and then shortly after discovered PC gaming and cars! But now I'm back!

My wife has bought me the 40k Rulebook for Christmas (roll on the 25th!) and I can't wait to get started!

Whilst the models and the rules seem to have taken light-year sized leaps forward since I last indulged in the hobby, I've been less impressed with the GW stores, prices, and the quality of White Dwarf in 2012! And oh how attitudes have changed! Metal used to be king and plastic models couldn't be given away... but so much hate for metal models now?! Amusing!

Anyhow, less of the rambling. My big issue now is deciding on an army to field. I was a staunch Space Marine player (Rogue Trader-style Crimson Fists) and also had a decent little Imperial Guard army and at the end of my first stint, a 2000pts Chaos Marine army too. I'd love another Chaos army, but many of the CSM models at the moment just don't float my boat (except the superb Raptors and the newest Chosen type models) so I may hold off to see if GW release some newer models anytime soon. My other big two candidates are Blood Angels (I love so many of the units and models that have been developed - Sanguinary Guard... oh my!) and the Grey Knights/Inquisitor force (something fresh for my old fashioned tastes).

Hopefully whatever I choose I'll be able to do justice and start my own blog thread. Watch this space!
