Time for a very short battle report!

Today was my second time playing 6th edition, and the first time ever playing Necrons with the new Codex. I wanted to try lots of new stuff, so I basically took all the new vehicles that I own and had a go at it.

My Army list looked like this:
Overlord in Command Barge with Warscythe and Mindshackle Scarabs
1x7 Warriors in a Ghost Ark, with a Destructek with Solar Flare
3x9 Warriors with Destructeks
10 Immortals with a Lord with Orb and Scarabs, in a Nightscythe
1 Annihilator Barge
3 Phantoms with whipcoils

The Tau list looked something like this (from memory):
Commander with 3 other Crisis suits
2 Hammerheads
2x12 Fire Warriors in Devilfish
2x10 Kroot
2x4 Pathfinders with Markerlights
2 Broadsides (?) with shield drones
4 Gun Drones

We rolled Dawn of War for Deployment, Emperor's Will for the mission and random junk for our warlord traits.

Some highlights of the game:
- I managed to inflict only two casualties in the first round - on myself, since the mysterious objective in my deployment zone turned out to be sabotaged and promptly exploded.
- Turn 3, I assaulted one Hammerhead with my Command Barge, ripping it to shreds and forcing most of his army to disembark in order to take down my Warlord
- My Ghost Ark took an ungodly amount of fire, I got reaaally lucky with the jink rolls there. I spent turns 2-5 with one gun disabled (the gauss array facing towards me), no shields and a single hullpoint. To add to the hilarity, I managed to blow the last hull point up myself in turn 5 when I tried to repair some warriors.
- In turn 5, he managed to contest my objective by a clever play with his devilfish. In a last-ditch attempt to keep one of my warriors squads (8 warriors and a cryptek) from rushing to help with the objective, he assaulted them with the single, one-wound crisis suit he had left... and managed to not only survive, but WIN the combat with one inflicted wound (despite his WS2), then sweeping my entire unit!

By turn 4, I had shot most of his army to pieces and was sitting pretty on my objective plus 3 victory points, while he only had a single victory point and no chance to claim his objective. In turn 5, he almost managed to turn the game around by focusing on the squad holding my objective, parking his Devilfish next to it and unloading his troops. He then proceeded to shoot my defending warriors down to a single one - if he had killed the whole unit, it would've ended 4-3 for him, instead of the 3-1 victory for me.

All in all, a great game. The necrons performed really well, with the ghost ark being my favourite for the game. If only they wouldn't be such a bith to paint, I'd gladly take another one! Also adding Crypteks to all of my warriors gave them flexibility and some punch on longer ranges, which helped immensely with his broadsides and some vehicles. I don't see Crypteks as burning points for HQ, but more like special weapon upgrades for warriors.
