Any "Dexter" fans on Dakka? What is your impression on season 7 now when final episode aired yesterday?
And what is your prediction for season 8?
Season 7 was nice, aldo I didn't really like Hannah ( she served her purpose but was unnecessary ) and Quinn's relationship ( after all he's done she just left him, that was quite stupid ). I loved Isaac ( men is epicly awesome ) and interactions between Dexter and Deb this season ( every single one was intensive to watch ). The season finale was mind blowing ( I will not spoil for someone who didn't watch it yet ), and probably the best so far in the series.
For season 8 I see Hannah returning to kill Deb, Angel secretly investigating into events that happened for new year's eve and even stronger and more complex relationship between Dexter and Deb. Being that season 8 will be the last one I am afraid that how things have gone so far either Dexter or Deb or both of them will die or run away in the end. But all in all Jenifer Carpenter deserved an Emmy for her acting this season.

Love Dexter...
The Isaac slant was my favorite in the whole show.
The finale was a stunner.
I have no idea how's the 8th season would end...

Lots of spoliers in the OP.
To be honest I have run out of steam with Dexter. I watched the first half of the series but I haven't worked up the enthusiasm to get the rest.
I have noticed that Dexter as a character seems to have been less well written as time has gone on. For example why on earth did he think that Isaac would have given up on is revenge?
In the beginning Dexter was almost superhuman in his meticulous planning, ability and intelligence but at the same time deeply flawed. Now his character seems to be running more on luck.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.
-Leman Russ, Meditations on Imperial Command book XVI (AKA the RT era White Dwarf Commpendium).
Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

It's because he changed over the years, in each season they covered one human emotion he would have to face on his road to Humanity ( the whole point of series is that ).
At the beginning he is like you said - superhuman, because he didn't care about anything beside living by his code and killing. But as years have gone he changed, became more emotional - more humane.
Take for example everything what happened to him since then: he killed his own brother to protect Deb, he got married, he got son, he discovered what faith means and in this season he felled in love and as a result of all of that he changed, you can see that in the last episode where he explain that to his dead father.

I understand that but what they have succeeded in doing is making him appear to be a lot more dense. The Dexter in series 1 was a lot more interesting than the Dexter in series 7 when the inverse should be true given all the character development that has gone on in the intervening years.
This is mostly due to poor writting and odd story decisions which i suppose is inevitable with such a long running programme

Loved Dexter but not the last two seasons. I thought this season was the worst but even I'll admit the finale was good. It was tense and had a shocking conclusion. I have no idea where the show can go from here. They spent the whole season disassembling everything thing that makes Dexter Dexter.
