Im working on a 1500 take all comers. C & C welcome

100 MOTF/Chap/or Lib

205 Tactical Squad: Melta/ML srg:pp/psword
200 Tactical Squad: FL/ML srg:pp/psword
180 Scout Squad: snipers/camo/ML
335 Sternguard: 10x Combi (Probably all melta) drop pod
100 TFC
125 Vindicator: siege shield
125 Vindicator: siege shield
100 Aegis Defense Line w/ quad gun.

Should be sitting on 1470 points.
I believe I have most short/mid range covered as well as anti hoards and enough ap 1 pie plates to deal with 2+ armor.
The melta stern will be used to take out enemy tanks and MC on turn 1

What should I take for the HQ and what holes can you guys see or should I scratch this list?

Good all round list,

Of course take a Libby and drop him with your Sterns. I would suggest 5x melta and 5x plasma for them.
I feel you need the Rhinos for your tacs, they need to quickly be in position to support the podded Sterns. Otherwise, you are just sacrificing 335 pts

Well noted and makes sense so IV adjusted stuff around.

225 tac squad w/ melta ml p sword rhino
220 tac squad w/ flamer ml p sword rhino

180 scout squad sniper camo ml
335 sternguard combix10 drop pod
100 TFC
125 vindicator / Siege
125 vindicator / Siege
100 aegis defense line quad gun

Problem is Im 10 points over and can’t decide what I want to remove.
Im torn between the scout ML, vindicators siege shield, and the power weapons on the tacs are they even worth it?

edit: also i could just take the marines in pods or use the rhinos to escort the vindis mid field

The Twilight Zone

I would drop the power weapons from the tac squads. Scouts mesh well with bolster defenses from your TFC techmarine. Keep the ML for the scouts. Buy the libby a combi weapon and maybe melta bombs.

I like the tac's in rhinos to escort the vindi's. Scouts and TFC provide backfield support.

Siege shields are nice cause vindicators are going to come under some serious fire. Being able to drive into/through cover ensuring you get a cover save and your target does not is huge.
Well rounded list.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

TAC I thought was supposed to be heavy on the TACtical squads. I think you could get away without the Rhinos and foot slog them. Also playing a TAC list is always very finesse. I would do something like this at 1500.

Librarian
Nullzone (to rob people of that invulnerable)
Gate of Infinity ( to take that sternguard squad out of harms way so they can shoot more)

Autocannon Dread (sit back and shoot)

8 man Sternguard (comes in first turn)
Combi melta x 8
Drop Pod

10 man Tac Squad (horde squad)
Sgt Combi Flamer
Flamer
Missile Launcher

10 man Tac Squad (anti armor squad)
Sgt Combi Melta
Meltagun
Multi Melta

10 man Tac Squad (all around squad)
Sgt Combi Plasma
Plasmagun
Multi Melta

Storm Talon (it deep strikes or escorts from reserves or comes in on its own)
Twin Lascannon
Assault Cannon

Storm Talon
Twin Lascannon
Assault Cannon

Vindicator (follows behind a tac squad and blasts things, comes in from reserves with a storm talon escort, or acts as a shield for a nice tac squad screen)

I understand what you meant. I still think a TAC list should be heavy on tactical squads as well. In the list I posted you have all the tools to deal with pretty much anything.

115 - Librarian / plasma pistol

210 - Tactical Squad / Melta Gun, Missile Launcher, Rhino
205 - Tactical Squad / Flamer, Missile Launcher, Rhino
180 - Scout Squad / Sniper x 9, Missile Launcher, Camo Cloak

340 - Stern guard Squad / Combi-Melta x10 (for now) Sergeant Melta Bomb, Drop pod

100 - Thunder Fire Cannon
125 - Vindicator / Siege Shield
125 - Vindicator / Siege Shield

100 - Aegis Defense Line / Quad Gun

Sitting pretty at 1500.
I don’t own any storm guppies yet but may get some later but until then anyone see any weaknesses or holes I should address?

Just give your vindis dozer blades instead of siege shield and you need not worry about removing anything else. Rolling two 1's in a row is highly improbable. You can still roll through cover and keep your toys.

I was going to knock the twin vindicators, but maybe that is a good choice for vanilla marines, since it can move 6" and fire its single weapon.

What powers for the libby? Null zone and avenger are always popular.

At 1500, you should be able to get away with a quad gun for AA.

Plasma pistol? Why? It still gets hot and has not been benefited by the change to rapid fire weapons.

One drop pod? At least find room for two so you can delay when your stern guard come in, otherwise a rhino might be better. Also 10 combi-meltas is excessive. Shave a few just to be more points efficient.

I dislike the vindicators for two reasons: (1) they are an obvious target and will draw all the AT attention, and (2) they are not great in the vanilla dex, too static for my taste. I think Preds would be much better, personally.

I kinda agree about the plasma pistol though i was looking to spend the extra points so the little details are still up in the air. (also its the DV lib so modeling it would be a pain anyway)
the drop pods as of now i only own one but will eventaully get 2 more. I can replace the rhinos for the tacs and take them instead.
im running an imperial fist army so the cannons are cannon, and generaly being a major target can allow me to ether force the enemy to deal with it or creat a dead zone as i move up. (it really all depends on the mission/opponent) but all stern guard being meltas im not sure about it as much. the whole problem i was having was dreadknights and landraiders at my local store. figured with 10 st 8 ap 1 melta shots with rerolls from lib, i could dependably take out the dread or landraider with an alpha strike. at least that was the intended tactic. is this viable at all?

I would take the pp off the libby and put a SB on a vindicator. Random weapon destroyed results mean 50/50 of not losing the nice demolisher cannon.

Oh yeah! Forgot about that. I would downgrade the siege shields to dozer blades too and be sure to get a SB on each vindi.
