So I am starting Ogre Kingdoms and was given a decent amount of NIB Ogre Models that includes
2 Boxes of Ogres
1 Fire Belly
1 Box IronGuts
1 Box Leadbelchers
1 Box Mourfang Calvary
1 Box Ironblaster
I need help figuring out what else I need to get for a decent 1500 point list. What works out for other people? Should I just boost it to 2k pts?
Some List help would be awesome and advice before I start putting all this together!
Thanks

Sounds like a good start do you have any interest in the butcher/slaughtermaster model or the bruiser/tyrant model? Or do you plan on converting those with the ogre bodies you have?
As of right now you got a great start you want a large group of iron guts I believe the Irongut kit has 4 great weapons so with the standard and musician you got 6 iron guts, plus the mornfang box should have 2 so now you are up to 8 out of your 16 ogre bodies. So you got a group of 8 Ironguts that will house your BSB and Slaughtermaster which you will need and a group of 8 Ogres with Ironfists with a Firebelly. Also invest into a 2 pack of sabretusks for redirecting and what not. Between the 2 big ogre units, magic banners and characters, a unit of 4 leadbelchers and an ironblaster you should be at 1500.
As you move to 2k you will be short about 2 Mornfang for an effective unit so get a box of those again ironfists for them giving you 2 more great weapons, I would then go to ebay and buy some ogre bodies and great weapons (irongut weapons) you can probably get 6 ogre bodies and at least 6 if not 8 great weapons for about $40 or 6 more bodies for $60, you can then boost that Iron gut unit to a very large unit that you could horde if you wanted and enough to run 2 units of 6 ogres with ironfists which may give you more bang for your buck then 1 big unit plus everything else you have you should be well over 2k maybe near 2500, a 3rd Sabretusk and a 2nd ironblaster, then you can add a big thunderstusk or stonehorn or maybe a unit of maneaters which you can convert up, a 2nd butcher is nice brings utility over the firebelly at a cheaper price but the firebelly looks cool and performs well may not be the optimal choice but it would be my choice.

What would be the better Lord Choice between those options and why?
I do plan on doing some converting, but ill probally score a hq model, I might use Braggs model to make a Lord with some conversion!

Slaughtermaster is a must IMO, run those guts 3 wide and stick him in the 2nd rank to cast. A BSB is essential as well. After that it's up to you, a 2nd butcher or firebelly is cool, Tyrant while nice for the extra LD is not essential where the SM and BSB are. You can always take a Standard of Discipline with the Ironguts boosting the SM's LD bubble.
For my BSB I used this model with a larger standard,m actually it is 2 bull flags attached to 2 long pieces of sprue I whittled down to wood poles in a "T" formation at the top of the T intersect is a gnobar in a barrel pointing (a look out gnoblar)

Yeah it is this one here http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat670009a&prodId=prod1320013a I've seen some converted BSBs out of Ogre bodies but I like the different pose of the characters a Maneater model would work too.

Ironfists all around, Ironfists are really beneficial to cavalry as they get the parry save where all other mounted models in the game do not get it from a shield. If you pick up a 2nd box of mournfang you can run it at 1500 but if you do that you may need to leave the regular ogres at home on the plus side you'll get 2 more great weapons form the 2nd Mournfang kit to get 2 more iron guts.

They have heavy armor, can have a magic banner and since Ogres are I2 they are generally striking last anyway, might as well be at S6. Plus they help fill out your minimum core requirements so lets figure at 1500 pts you are going to bring 1 Ogre units and are deciding between Ogres and IGs, well you have to being 375 pts of core so you would have to bring 11 with ironfists and full command, while the Iron Guts would only need 8 with full command and a standard of discipline. Maybe 1500 was a bad example but lets say you get to 2500 and you want to bring 4 mournfang, a pair of ironblasters, maybe a thundertusk, maneaters, leadbelchers and sabretusk so you got all this cool and fun stuff and doh you need 625pts worth of core You could bring 2 medium units of ogres or 1 big ole fatty unit or horde of Ironguts. Overall though it is my first point wounding dwarfs and beastmen on 2s is a lot better then wounding them on 4s, Ogres are WS3 which you will find disappointing against WS3+ so of those hits you make you want to wound as much as possible on plus there is the armor negating bonuses of the higher S attacks, Heavy Armor dwarfs would get no save, even non shield carrying chaos warriors and full plate empire troops would not get a save against S6.

Also another question, how would I get the SM in the 2nd rank, wouldn't a character displace one of the command? Also I was able to get another box of calvary, do I need a musician or SB?

Characters have to displace rank and file but do not have to replace command models, they can do a "make way" move I believe but you wouldn't want to. If your slaughter master has some good defensive equipment you could go 4 wide and between the extra defense, high toughness and heals from the gut lore attribute he should be fine and possibly quite killy as well. The BSB on the other hand should be kept in the 2nd rank, this allows you to free up points and magic items for other characters. If you get enough iron guts to run them horded you could do 2 things to help the BSB, stick him in a corner to minimize attacks directed at him or bring a long a 2nd unit of ogres run them 3 wide with full command and stick him in the 2nd rank.

Cool sounds like a good start, 6 regular ogres is a good amount as well. Make sure you get Sabretusks and you are on your way to 2k easily, extra with the firebelly
Slaughter Master, Level 4, Crown of Command, Armor of Destiny, Ironfist, Biting Blade, Dragonbane Gem 388
Bruiser, BSB, Heavy Armor, Dragonhelm, Ogre Blade 188
10 Ironguts, Full Command, Standard of Discipline, 475
6 Ogres, Ironfists, Full Command, 222
4 Mournfang, Musician, Standard, Dragonhide Banner 330
4 Leadbelchers, Bellower 182
1 Sabretusks 21
1 Sabretusks 21
Ironblaster 170
1997
Gave the regular ogres full command in case you want to stick the BSB in that unit though personally I would like it a bit bigger.

For my two cents to this, I run at 2000pts, the following.
Slaughtermaster lv4.
Butcher lv2
Butcher lv2 with hellheart.
2 units of 7 ogres with full command and additional hand weapons.
2 units of 50 gnoblars with trapper upgrade.
mournfangs x8 with heavy armour and ironfists, full command.
It vary rarely gets beaten, and I've never needed a BSB under 8th ed. its a tricky list to get used to. but, once you have, it smashes things deader than a very dead dead thing.
at 2K I've never needed Sabretusks, but once you go beyond that points limit, you start to need them. I tend to make my lists as generic all comers lists, so they can smack the gak out of pretty much most things... only trouble I have is sodding high elves... but luckily not many people play them in my area.

Yup in bigger games I have 150 of them
having hoard units of gnoblars with trappers makes them something to avoid at all costs. It makes your opponent think, "ogres or gnoblars?" either way its a lot of hurty death.
Trappers = 1 dangerous terrain check per model in unit... then to add insult to injury, thrown weapons from the gnoblars... and if the enemy hasnt killed itself from charging or the thrown weapons, its now bogged down in combat with a unit who is stubborn from being hoard.
100 gnoblars = dangerous little gits

haha, very true, and I have a theme to my army, so it makes it worse... they are all slaves, so the models are going to be classic warhammer ones of every race... why I decided to revamp all my gnoblars I will never know lols
Well even one unit of 50 gnoblars are worth a try, as a flank guard. which is what mine become more often than not. but never underestimate the flexibility of a gnoblar unit, be it flank guard or bullet shield. or even in combat to bog an enemy unit down... when I do this one, its surprising how many times I actually win a combat too. 50 gnoblars with trapper upgrade is 150pts, well worth it
Apologies for the gnoblar pimping, but they are highly underused and underrated imo, so if I can convert people to them, I'll bloody well try
