My FLGS is going to be restarting its escalation league in next week and I wanted to work out a competitive list to start the league off right. I mostly face Orks, Necrons, guard and MEQ armies. Let me know what I can do to improve this.

HQ

The Duke

x2 Heamonculi w/ liquefier and venom blade

x2 9 Wyches (Raider w/ Nightshield and Flickerfield)
-Shardnet, Hexatrix w/ Venom blade

18 Kalabites W/ Blaster and Splinter cannon

1 Ravager w/ 3 Dark Lances, Nightsield and Flickerfield)

I'm planning to put the Duke with the Kabalites and deploy them in cover to either hold an objective or move up on infantry blobs and sieze objectives. I'm putting the two Heamonculi with the Wyches. They should be able to bog down and kill non-HQ units, and their Strength 8 plasma grenades should be able to take out any vehicles in a pinch. The Ravager would hang back and target the big threats on the field. What do you guys think?

To add in haywire I'd have to kill some other points, and unless my opponents start bringing land raiders at 1000 points (which is possible, just unlikely, the plasma grenades will work fine in assault.

Drop the flickerfields on the skimmers. Unless you don't get first turn without night fight they are worthless. In assault, a 5++ wont help you anyways.

Get haywire grenades for the wytches like barrywise said.

Max out those kabbies to 20 to unlock the second splinter cannon.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

The only problem I have with dropping flicker field is that I fight a lot of chaos, and the 5 ++ had saved my Bacon on more than one time against charging hell brutes and those abismal helldrakes.

I think 3 Hq is far too many for 1000 points. I understand you want the FNP but basically paying 100 points to give 18 t3 models FNP seems bad. I would add another ranvager, preferably with 3 disintigrators to help with Power armor.

Also so you really need a 150 point character in a 1000 list. You sont even have any thing to deepstrike thats worth it and can take a generic archon with shadow field, armor, and an agonizer for 30 points less.

How about this:

x1 Heamonculi w/ liquefier 50
x1 9 Wyches (Raider w/ Nightshield) 200
-Shardnet, Hexatrix w/ Agonizer

10 Kalabites W/ Blaster and Splinter cannon in raider with nightshield 185
5 Kabalites w/ blaster in venom with xtra cannon and night 135
5 Kabalites w/ blaster in venom with xtra cannon and night 135

Ravager w/ 3 Dark Lances, Nightsield 115
Ravager w/ 3 Disintigrators, Nightsield 115

This still leaves you 65 points to play with. How about a unit of 5-6 wracks. They are scoring with the Heamon in the list and are not too bad at holding down an objective. Last 5 points you can add something to the haemon.

This is a ton of shooting backed up by a mobile assualt unit. Since wytches are worse in 6th I took you down to 1 unit. Saved you 200 points in Hq's which were not needed. You still have 4 scoring units (if you add the wracks) and far more damage including 5 lances, 3 blasters, 3 disintegrators and 5 splinter cannons. Scary at 1000.

This list suffers vs flyers though and I would consider a jet righter over one of the ravagers.

Ok, I've taken some of what you've said into account and reworked the list. I agree that the Duke is a point waist at this small of a game. I also agree that Wyches aren't as good in 6th, but they're my favorite thing in my army so I'm going to run them regardless. Here is what I've got.

-Haemonculus (W/ Venom Blade)
9 Wyches (W/ Shardnet, Hexatrix W/ venom blade)
Raider (W/ Night Shields)

I can always swap in a Razorwing for one of the Ravagers or a Kalabite squad if I need AA capabilities. Also, I have a question about the Heamonculi. Since they will be my HQ choice, yet both will only take one slot, does my opponent have to kill both of them to get slay the warlord, or just one?
