So, if we imagine that the Emperor's dream had come to fruition, the Great Crusade united all humanity, knowledge of Chaos was stamped out, and Xenos were put on the back foot, what fates might the Primarchs have had?
As I see it:
I Lion El'Jonson:
II: ?
III Fulgrim: Seems likely to be at home in a peaceful galaxy
IV Perturabo: Probably still end up falling away from the Emperor unless given some serious attention
V Jaghatai Khan:
VI Leman Russ: Perfectly loyal, but what would he do in a relatively peaceful galaxy?
VII Rogal Dorn:
VIII Konrad Curze: see Perturabo
IX Sanguinius:
X Ferrus Manus: Might go live on Mars
XI: ?
XII Angron: No way he would settle down, probably have to be put down eventually
XIII Guilliman: Administrator
XIV Mortarion: see Angron
XV Magnus: Emperor planned to put him on the Golden Throne, right?
XVI Horus Lupercal:
XVII Lorgar: Would be a great philosopher king if the Emperor kept him around/gave him something acceptable to work on
XVIII Vulkan: see Ferrus Manus
XIX Corvus Corax:
XX Alpharius Omegon: Don't know, but they're pretty adaptable...
So, there's my best guesses on these superhumans. Does anyone else have any ideas?
Edit: Can't believe I left out Guilliman, oops.

Perturabo would be designing perfect human cities that make Dorn so jealous, that he kills himself.
A lot of the others would have to be put down.

There's always more galaxies to conquer and enemies to kill, so I think for the most part they'd carry on leading the Legions and killing stuff. Heck, quite possible that most of them would die before a perfect universe is achieved.
But in a perfect-perfect universe...?

In a perfect universe...
I Lion El'Jonson: Coordinates all the Imperium's forces against insurrection
II would exist.
III Fulgrim: Creates art in quest for "perfection"
IV Perturabo: Creates bases for defense
V Jaghatai Khan: Would rule over his own segmentum.
VI Leman Russ: Would be poised to remove any single treacherous element. Would, quite wonderfully, be acting opposite the Lion, to act as a check on each others power.
VII Rogal Dorn: Designs great cities for the Imperium/bases for defence.
VIII Konrad Curze: Would never have had such haunting dreams, and would have accepted Dorn's view on human nature, or at least reached a consensus. Perhaps would have run an Inquisition equivalent.
IX Sanguinius: Acted as the "face" of the Imperium, nipping secessionist thoughts in the bud
X Ferrus Manus: Mars
XI wouldn't have disappeared.
XIII Guilliman: General administration of Imperium.
XV Magnus: Allowed Mankind to use the Webway.
XVI Horus Lupercal: Ruled alongside the Emperor.
XVII Lorgar: Been the philosopher he always wanted to be but was never allowed to.

I do think they would all keep fighting, one thing or another. But I guess some of them would be more inclined than others to do non-war related activities.
I Lion El'Jonson: Keep on waring and building forces
II [...]
III Fulgrim: Artist of every kind of artform.
IV Perturabo: Securing conquered worlds with dorn, building fortresses. In this version on good terms with Dorn. (Friendly competition)
V Jaghatai Khan: Hunt aliens and rebels.
VI Leman Russ: Hunting along side the Khan.
VII Rogal Dorn: Se Perturabo
VIII Konrad Curze: Hunt aliens and rebels, but in a more stealth-like fashion, his terror-tactics kept at bay by the big E.
IX Sanguinius: Public Relations
X Ferrus Manus: Building stuff on Mars
XI [...]
XII Angron: Goes insane and commits suicide
XIII Guilliman: Administrator
XV Magnus: Sits upon the Golden Throne, enabling the human webways and teach the high-ranking psykers.
XVI Horus Lupercal: Administrator along side Guilliman
XVII Lorgar: Been the philosopher he always wanted to be but was never allowed to.
XVIII Vulkan: Mars with Manus
XIX Corvus Corax: Fights the aliens along side Khan and the others, teaching those he can his way of war.
XX Alpharius Omegon: Intelligence, internal and external, keeping an eye on everything for the emperor.

But this is a counterfactual thread. We're talking about a Mortarion who never had the chance to betray the Emperor. Also, we're not talking about him leaping at just any chance. Mortarion's disloyalty to the Emperor was counterbalanced against his loyalty to Horus. Thus, if Horus had not fell, the specific chance Mortarion was so willing to take (and less willingly than you seem to portray it) would not have arisen. I'm not saying his loyalty was by any means ever unquestionable. I just wouldn't lump him in the Angron boat. Automatically Appended Next Post: d3m01iti0n wrote:Taken over the galaxy and lived in their little apartment building Empy built for them under the Palace.
Yeah, they'd probably all just play 40k in the Emperor's basement.

1 Lion: on patrol to extinguish xenos entirely, if not possible, keep the threat posed by the xenos to a minimum
2 :?
3 Fulgrim: given governship of a segmentum with purpose of designing the best possible government for a galactic empire
4 Perturabo: Tag along with Angron (see below). Otherwise put down this unloyal wolf.
5 Khan: Tag along with the Lion (see above)
6 Leman Russ: Iron Fist of Inquisition, effectively Galactic police force. Otherwise, put down the rabid dog.
7 Dorn: Let play with his Legos... failing that, construction of fortresses along the border of the empire and cities within
8 Curze: Silent Dagger of Inquisition. Otherwise put down the rabid bat.
9 Sanguinus: public relations
10 Manus: either work alongside AdMech or assassinate, his belief in constant competition between factions could prove ultimately detrimental to the Imperium
11 :?
12 Angron: Send to next galaxy to start claiming territory for the Imperium, don't forget to let him take his best buddy along (Perturabo). Otherwise put down this rabid lion.
13 Guilliman: Logistics
14 Mortarion: Tag along with Horus. Otherwise assassinate this unloyal jackal
15 Magnus: Interred on the golden throne for life, duh.
16 Horus: Administration
17 Lorgar: Make him read Nietzsche, Schopenhauer, etc. If views haven't changed, assassinate this blind buffoon. If views have changed, head of the Atheist Church.
18 Vulkan: Mars, give him authority to knock some sense into the AdMech as well. Tech is tech is tech unless warp or AI is involved, then proceed with caution.
19 Corax: Tag along with Khan and Lion
20 Alpharius Omegon: Inquisition pretty much. Ensure loyalty to the Imperium is absolute.

ADB: I showed the Wolves revealing the key weakness at the heart of the World Eaters; showing Angron that his Legion was broken and worthless compared to the others; that he was the one primarch who couldn't trust his own warriors, and that they didn't care if he lived or died; showing that loyalty to brothers and sons is the heart of success for the Legiones Astartes, to the point even Lorgar makes a big deal out of saying the World Eaters and their primarch were massively outclassed by Russ, and Angron was too stupid to see the lesson Russ had sacrificed time, sweat, and blood, to teach. We're talking about a battle the Wolves won, by isolating the enemy general through pack tactics, and threatening to kill him, without a hope of defending himself. It was a balance, 50/50 - Angron overpowered Russ, and the Wolves were losing ground to the World Eaters; but Russ and his warriors had Angron by the balls, and barely broke a sweat. They won, no question. Lorgar even says: "The Wolves won, meathead."
Dorn won’t help you either. He’s too busy being the Emperor’s groundskeeper, hiding behind the palace walls. The Wolf is too busy cutting off heads as our father’s executioner, while the Lion holds on to his secrets, and has no special fondness for you. Who else will come? Not Ferrus, certainly. Nor Corax either. Even as we speak, I suspect he flees for Deliverance. Sanguinius?’ Curze laughed cruelly. ‘The angel is more cursed than I. The Khan? He does not wish to be found. So who is left? No one, Vulkan. None of them will come. You are simply not that important. You are alone.’ Konrad Curze to Vulkan
