Hey Dakka,

For those of you who are experienced with Vampire Counts assembling. Is it possible to blend the zombies and skeletons together? I know this might bend the rules a little bit in terms of how other players view the unit. But my thought was that I would buy the army/battalion box and instead of being stuck with a pile of zombies that I may never use. Blend them with the skeletons and get a 40 strong skeleton unit? Does this make any sense, I'm just starting to think about collecting VCs and from what I've read it seems Skeletons and Ghouls are the way to go.

On the other hand, for when I want to raise dead is it better to have that unit of 20 zombies kicking around?

Thanks,

KO

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

You will use Zombies because you have the Raise Dead spell. Even if they arn't in your army list you will want zombies to raise afresh. They are very useful for blocking your opponent's ability to charge you and generally be annoying.

You pay points for Gouls and Skeletons, but you will have zombies from raising them.

if you pay points for zombies, you will be running them in large units. 100+ models.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Ok this is good to know. I wasn't clear on how the raise dead spell worked in terms of which units it could raise. So I will keep the unit of Zombies kicking around for that purpose alone then. I'll have to include that in my purchase plans.

Thanks

What? Lots of people buy two minimum-sized units of zombies at 20 models and just raise them above.

It's good for Blood and Glory - two more cheap standards in 2 units that by turn 2 are going to be pushing 50 models.

That doesn't mean everyone will want to include them in their initial list. Some have enough standards and want more Ghouls or Skeletons in their Core, for example.

Well, no, I don't think that everyone uses them, but "you will be..." is a rather specific directive that doesn't necessarily apply.
