I'm forever doing this in the real world, meeting new people, getting along with them, chatting away all night having a great night at a party, and then realizing you haven't been introduced, they don't know your name, you don't no theirs. But you've been talking to them for far to long to ask now, that would just be awkward! However since this is the world of the internet and the rules of real life don't tend to apply here in the same way, I will use this land mark of a post as a suitable disguise for my lack of formalities.

So I began war gaming when I was about 10 ,11, 12 (whatever age you are in you're last year of Primary school,(UK) I think it is about that age), after watching a couple of friends battle with Blood Angels and Tyranids, I was instantly hooked, the Blood Angels won that battle, so they were to become my army of choice. If anyone would care to inform me what edition of the rules this was that'd be interesting to know, I am 21 going on 22 now, so basically 10 years ago. I'm sure the starter set my cousin had at the time was a some sort of marines, against Eldar/Dark Eldar.

I gamed for a bout a year with my Blood Angels, and even started a lunch time gaming club at the school, we never really did much, just got our armies out and rolled a few dice, but it was fun. Until someone stole one of my Terminators :( still bitter about that today. So we were forced to close the club, and then my interest in Gaming declined, coincidentally as my interest in girls began to grow. And that was pretty much my war gaming story until 2011, fast forward on 9 - 10 years, and my boss at work says his son (about the same age as I was when I started playing) had decided he wants to start playing Warhammer, me being the ever helpful employee went digging through my attic, and found all my old models, and gave them to him for £20 and a beer. However a certain nostalgia found me when I was up there, and I began looking around on the internet at 40k models, and like a moth to a flame I was drawn back in, and actually manage to get a family friend to join in with me, I picked up where I left off with Blood Angels, and he went with Tau.

After about a year in the game, I managed to collect myself nearly 7k of pretty much painted Blood Angels, before leaving the UK to travel around in sunnier climbs in the Southern Hemisphere, and it is in this time off that I have found myself, here, now. Except this time, the bug hasn't left me, and I find myself just as in-grossed in the hobby as ever before, all be it on a much more digital scale, I wade in on all manner of discussions on Dakka, and keep up to date with what is going on in the 40K world, as well as trying to get my game fix using VASSAL, and planning my next army. My second love after Blood Angels, the Great Devourer. I have also began writing my own codex, because I have a lot of spare time on my hands.

Anyway, thanks for the time I have spent with you fellow Dakkanauts, and now you all no a little something about me.

I know a few people who have very similar stories. Maybe GW's plan of selling shiny toys to kids and negating to cater for the long time gamer is working in a very twisted way.

Well sounds like a great way to introduce yourself
